Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 25, 2021 (edited December 26, 2021)Nose: very grassy. The last time I smelled this hardcore of a rye was Buleitt Rye. There’s a little sweet undertone but I have a feeling it won’t be on the palate Palate: incredibly bitter instantly. Almost like a corn beef dip that has a ton of dill in it. Rye and dill are very potent. Finish: short and there’s the sweetness! Didn’t think I’d taste it. Overall: I like some ryes. Not this one though lol -
Oban 2006 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 23, 2021 (edited May 1, 2022)Nose: sweet and bready. A little bit smoke Palate: more spice than I thought there’d be. Also a bitter smoke flavor. Not much oak but I thought there’d be. Finish: medium and bready Overall: not bad but not super complex. An interesting pour nonetheless. I think it’s about $115 and I wouldn’t buy it for myself but I’m glad to try it and thankful for my friend sending this sample -
High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed December 21, 2021 (edited January 11, 2022)Nose: lots of smoke. Little sweet. Palate: a little peaty and some subtle sweetness on the palate as well. Finish: all peat. Overall: the first campfire I tasted back in 2018 was totally different. Not sure if they decided to use scotch in the one I’m trying now. But I definitely liked the first version better -
George Dickel 15 Year Tennessee Single Barrel
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed December 20, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)Nose: caramel and baking spices Palate: sugar and some tobacco/oak. Kind of thin Finish: medium and vanilla finish Overall: it’s not as bad as some reviews read but it’s not amazing either. It’s probably right in the middle -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2019-04 "Beaten Biscuits"
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed December 19, 2021Nose: cinnamon and spice. Some nuts but not a lot. Palate: instant Kentucky hug. Massively rich and nutty. A little sweet but not overly so. Finish: peanuts and very lengthy on this one. Would pair nice with a snickers Overall: I’m biased with Booker’s. Love it. Some batches have been better than others but the Kentucky hug is always there and I welcome it. So good -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #5
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 19, 2021 (edited May 24, 2022)Nose: light caramel. Lots of spice. This is in a rocks glass so I can’t get much else. Palate: spicy spicy. Holy cow is this spicy. I can definitely tell it’s not a rye but this drinks we’ll above its proof. Finish: short and thin. Overall: meh. Nothing amazing here. Very thankful to try this through a buddy though -
Lagavulin 16 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 18, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)Nose: smoke…more smoke. Oh and smoke Palate: holy smokes. Lol. And honestly a little bread and sweetness to it. Didn’t expect that. Finish: more smoke. Overall: it’s smoky. Not horrible but I haven’t acquired that taste yet -
Nose: very bright on the nose and potent. Tons of bread and I get some smoke after nosing a bit. Palate: very grainy and some spice to it. Not much on the sweet side though Finish: holy smoke. Out of nowhere it just opens up like someone lit a flame. Overall: incredibly interesting. The late smoke really got me good. I’m still not a big peat guy but I dig the uniqueness

Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 11, 2021 (edited December 13, 2021)Nose: incredibly rich on the nose. Very soft and lots of vanilla. Lots of dark fruit too. A lot sweeter than most knob creeks I’ve tried Palate: dang good man. Little bit of spice coming through. A tonnnn of peanuts in the middle. Overall, just quality Finish: the berries come through right here. All sweet with the finish. Overall: I now understand what people have been saying about this bottle. It’s like a good 15 year store pick basically. And wayyyy better than the 15 year small batch release. I need to find a bottle -
GlenDronach Original 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 9, 2021 (edited December 24, 2021)Nose: very light and a bitter sweetness. Very potent nose as well which I didn’t expect. Bready too Palate: briny and salty almost. A little more basic than others I’ve had. Meaning the flavors to me are a bit more dull. Finish: pretty long. Bitterness that the 15 year isn’t quite there Overall: not bad. Better than a lot of other scotches I’ve tried. Good entry level I feel like
