Glenlivet The Master Distiller's Reserve Solera Vatted
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 8, 2018 (edited December 1, 2018)This is the poor man's Glenfiddich 15. While nice and gentle, the body is weak and the finish short. Vanilla, some dried fruit and caramel... Not bad. -
Glen Scotia 1832 Campbeltown
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed May 8, 2018 (edited July 4, 2019)Campbeltown... The land flowing with milk and honey, and the oft forgotten great whisky region of Scotland. And to make matters worse, Glen Scotia is the less appreciated distillery. Deservedly, I should add, because how many distilleries can compete with Springbank? But enough about that... This expression is delicious! Butterscotch, malted barley, honey and salt. Simple enough, yes? There's some bitterness on the finish, and the nose is better than the palate. Still... great stuff! -
Macallan Classic Cut (2017 Release)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 8, 2018 (edited April 29, 2020)Lives up to some of the hype, and a basically the Macallan 12 on flavour roids. Sherry on the nose, with a touch of oak, dried fruit and honey. There's cinnamon and tobacco on the palate, with plenty of wood spices. The body is full with a pleasant burn from the high ABV, and the finish has a touch of dark chocolate. Considering it's a limited edition, it's definitely worth buying. -
Teaninich Flora & Fauna 10 Year
Single Malt — Highland, Scotland
Reviewed May 8, 2018 (edited August 11, 2020)Like a long hike, in a dense forest, to a very small cabin: the trouble in obtaining this expression ain't worth the time. It's one-dimensional (some honey and carnation), a tad sweet on the palate and bitter on the finish, and it can't stand on its own two legs. Better blended that on its own.
