Glenfiddich 15 Year Solera Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 5, 2022 (edited October 18, 2022)The 14 year bourbon cask has such good reviews. It was probably the single most disappointing bottle I’ve ever purchased. I absolutely hated it. The only reason I tried the 15 is it was part of a mini sampler box given to me than included the 12, 15 and 18. All were much better than the 14. Although I wanted to like the 18 year the best to feel more sophisticated, the 15 was my favorite. The 18 year was very good but for the money, this is a better buy.61.0 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Bourbon 101
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 5, 2022 (edited February 23, 2022)Folks, this is the best value in bourbon. Period. You can spend your time and money chasing overpriced bottles of allocated bourbon on the secondary market. However you are likely to find 101 was what you always wanted and loved. This isn’t a supermodel of bourbons, but she’s pretty smooth and easy to be with on a daily basis. And you know what? She’s always available. She won’t leave you high and dry like so many others that are here today and gone tomorrow. There could come a day in this crazy world of supply chain issues that you go to the liquor store only to find that bottle of 101 isn’t there anymore. Now you’re only option is to get online and pay $130 to have a $30 bottles of Wellers reserve sent to you. Don’t wait until it’s too late… -
As a fan of all things wild turkey, this is a tough review for me. On one hand it has familiar wild turkey notes that I love. On the other hand it’s just different enough that will appeal to some and not resonate with others, like myself. This whiskey is everything previous reviews say it is. It’s an easy sipper with a hint of mesquite. How you feel about it will like be determined by how you feel about other WT offerings. For me, Russell’s single barrel and rare breed are my absolute favorites. WT 101 is the best value in bourbon. So although I like this, it’s not my first choice among wt offerings. I’ll probably buy it again because I just love wild turkey. It’s also one of my favorite looking bottles under $40.

I opened this alongside a bottle of Stranahans that I preferred to this. The Amrut was good but a little too bold. It’s been open now for probably 4-5 months and somewhat forgotten about. It’s mellowed out quite a bit and I REALLY like it now. I drink it neat but a drop of water goes a long way with this one if it’s too strong. I see some here paid between $35-$75 for this bottle. I paid $51 for mine and will buy it again at that price.
