I.W. Harper 15 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2022 (edited August 27, 2022)Nose: floral, Carmel, vanilla. Seriously the fresh crack on this bottle is fragrant. One of the best smelling bourbons I’ve ever encountered. Palate: 86 proof so it what I’d call a east sipper. Little to no burn. Light on the palate but very good flavor. It’s all here. Vanilla, Carmel, bit of Tabasco. It’s really tasty. Finish: light and gone too soon or I’d score it higher. Overall: it’s a solid 4 for me. It’s got all the classic bourbon taste with a fantastic nose. I wish I could get this at cask strength. That would be a treat. -
Four Roses Single Barrel Barrel Strength (OBSQ) Uptown Spirts
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed February 11, 2022 (edited January 30, 2024)Nose: Carmel, vanilla and Floral Palate: vanilla, Carmel toffee, barrel spice with floral notes. It’s outrageous Finish: a good long spicy Kentucky hug. This bottle cost me $160.00 plus shipping. I just can’t find it in NC. So I figured WTH get one since it was finally available. It’s damn good. I will say since is so scarce a really good alternative would be ECBP which is available all over, an excellent pour and cheaper. -
Nose: vanilla forward. Hints of Carmel and brown sugar with baking spices. Palate: Carmel bomb. Light sweet notes commingle with barrel spices. It’s really sublime. Finish: long and lingers. Little to no burn. Overall: this is another amazing pour from J Mattingly. I have one of their ryes and another bourbon. This one in particular is wheated. It’s grand and in my opinion with its hefty price tag of $129.00129.0 USD per Bottle

Little Book Chapter 5: The Invitation
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 1, 2022 (edited May 14, 2022)Vanilla, oak, brown sugar and Carmel. My summary is just get a bottle of knob creek 9 yr single barrel special reserve. It’s amazingly better. This is a good pour but the draw is mostly the packaging which is gorgeous btw. It’s a blend of some rye and other age stated whiskies. For what these cost i would definitely just go for the KC 9s. -

J. Mattingly Limited Edition Private Barrel Select Small bath straight rye whiskey
Rye — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 19, 2022Nose: Carmel, vanilla, brown sugar and hint of orange peal Palate: Carmel and vanilla bomb. Rye spices with sweet tobacco finish. Finish: long and lingers. Overall: this is a special combat medic bottle. Being a former airborne infantryman I got lots of love for “Docs”. All of that aside this is a fantastic rye. Tasty with a full body and all the edges are rounded off. Very high marks. Only issue is it’s 97 of 150 bottles. You’re just not going to get it again.120.0 USD per Bottle
