Elijah Craig 18 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 6, 2022 (edited June 19, 2022)Nose: vanilla, Carmel, brown sugar, notes of oak and tobacco Palate: vanilla and Carmel with barrel char on the back end. Light on the palate. Finish: hangs around with that long Kentucky hug. Overall: I’ve had two different bottles now and the first one was something special. This one is a fresh crack and isn’t blow my hair back. However it’s still a damn good pour. -
Rabbit Hole Boxergrail Kentucky Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 28, 2022 (edited September 23, 2023)Nose: barrel spices, vanilla and light Carmel Palate: sweet up front like vanilla cake. Rolls into a spice cake at the end from the rye spice. Notes of tobacco and touch of cinnamon. This is way better than I figured it be. A good long finish. Overall: this a solid pour. Very tasty. A great mix of spice and sweet with a good finish on it. I’d buy another bottle -
Elijah Craig single barrel private barrel proof "master distiller pick"
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed April 21, 2022 (edited May 21, 2022)Nose: as a barrel proof you get some ethanol of course. Tons of vanilla, brown sugar and Carmel. The nose is outstanding. Palate: ohhhh sooo good. Vanilla cake frosting, toasted creme brûlée, tobacco. Man this is dynamite. Finish: it’s a Elijah Craig barrel proof so this finish goes on forever. Overall: best value for you money in bourbon imo. 80 bucks for a bourbon that hardly ever misses. Now make it a master distiller pick and a single barrel and it’s next level. -
Three Chord Single Barrel Honey Toast Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 20, 2022 (edited April 21, 2022)Nose: toasted breads, honey, vanilla and brown sugars. Nose reminds me kind of Honey Nut Cheerios. Fantastic nose. Palate: honey drizzled over good toasted bread. There’s also the vanilla and Carmel and the barrel spice on the end of the palate. This is a delightful pour. The finish hangs around too. Overall: this is my first and only three chord I’ve had. Wow what a hitter. The blend of spice and toasted honey is perfectly crafted. Not too sweet and not too my spice. It’s great. This is a whiskey witch nation group pick from the Albermarle NC ABC store. Outstanding -
Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 16, 2022 (edited August 6, 2022)Nose: Carmel, brown sugar, vanilla, orange zest and peanut shell Palate: ok hear me out. It reminds me of JD 10 yr. Similar proof as JD10yr, similar taste as JD10yr. I need to do a side by side to see the difference. That being said that’s no a bad thing. JD10yrs is great. In the finish I get a almond note. Overall: pricy as hell. I paid 179 bucks for this bottle. Is it worth it? Imo there is too much great jack on the market to buy one of these. That being said I’m glad I have one and when it’s gone I doubt I’ll fork over this much cash for another. JD barrel proof single Barrel is just too good and too available at 70 bucks to buy another one of these. I’m not knocking it it’s really good just costly. -

Jefferson's Reserve Pritchard Hill Cabernet Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 15, 2022 (edited April 16, 2022)Nose: Carmel, vanilla, toasted bread and brown sugar Palate: vanilla, also got a slight cherry note. Probably the Cabernet finish. Solid taste. Nothing spectacular. Finish: short. Wine on the back of the palate. Overall 3.25-3.5/5. It’s somewhere in the middle so it’s a solid pour for me. At 90 proof it’s easy to drink -
Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 10, 2022 (edited August 13, 2022)Carmel and vanilla on the nose. Brown sugar and vanilla and I’m getting a touch of cinnamon on the palate. Overall: at 86 proof there are no sharp edges. Super easy drinker. If smooth is what your after this is the pour for you. A solid pour that for the low proof had a ton of flavor. -
As a lover of ryes and a lover of good ryes and a lover of good high proof ryes. This one checked all the damn boxes. Nose: amazing nose. Barrel spices, Carmel, vanilla and some oak. Palate: it’s so complex I can’t do it justice. You need a real pro for this one. It’s spicy with subtle sweet and note of oak. It’s outrageously grand. Finish: long long Kentucky hug. Sits in the middle of your chest and lingers. Coats the tongue. A friend and I went to front street in Wilmington NC. That bourbon bar is unbelievable. We had this there and I was sad when I was down to my last sip lol.
