Journeyman Distillery Silver Cross Four Grain Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Michigan, USA
Reviewed January 30, 2024Not sure if its just my bottle, something is off. Kind of getting a synthetic cork taste in the whiskey. Silky texture, vegetal notes, a metallic vanilla, lower alcohol makes it "smooth". Adding ice or water does not help, it drowns pretty quickly. I was hopeful for this one based on some other reviews from YouTube but for me, its not a favorable pour. -
Bushmills Prohibition Recipe Whiskey
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed March 15, 2023 (edited March 26, 2023)Nose: sweet, slightly sour apple, dust, rubbing alcohol Taste: metallic vanilla, soft red apple skin, something else i cant quite pinpoint Finish: falls off quickly, apple skin note hangs then the metallic note lingers -
Balcones Lineage Texas Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed January 21, 2022 (edited May 24, 2023)On the nose was immediately rich and fruity, I initially had lighter honeyed fruit like apple or pear. You get oak tannin, reminded me of a highland direction. But the taste let's you know this is not Scotch, slight chocolate notes, oak, vanilla, darker stewed fruits. The Balcones signature is definitely in this one -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 14, 2021 (edited December 25, 2021)Several tastings and blind flights and this never comes out on top. It's very tasty, but really no depth and a bit thin. Sure it is smooth. Non existent finish. I'd never pay above retail for it, I can do a lot more with the money. -
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 14, 2021 (edited February 2, 2022)This doesn't have as much complexity as I would expect for its hype. I liked it a lot but got prevailing sweet caramel and vanilla, very little spice, some apple and a shorter finish with caramel and oak. I'm glad I tried it at a bar so I won't be tempted to pay above retail price for a bottle.
