Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 11, 2016 (edited February 14, 2017)Not at all what I expected of it! I get vanilla, cantaloupe, whipped cream, figs, almonds on the nose. Very seductive, even more so with this taste like real Italian rum-raisin ice cream: the type you deviate 30 miles from your route for. Pairs well musically with something equally funky, like The Rubberband Man from The Spinners. -
The Autumn whisky. Leather, earth, chestnuts and tree bark on the nose. The more you investigate the taste the more the musk taste of tobacco and raked leafs allows for blueberries and spareribs marinade. Finish is like my father's cigarillos. Seems made to pair with blues, like Alice from Tom Waits. The hype of this whisky is more than deserved, this is fantastic.

Dalwhinnie 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 26, 2016 (edited October 28, 2016)Nearly indistinguishable from the thousand other honey-and-vanilla whiskies out there without side-by-side comparison. It's a lovely dram, but success comes from standing out, not fitting in. -
Ardmore Traditional Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 26, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Like a younger sister to Highland Park 12; comparable in taste profile, but with less refinement, fewer subtleties. Considering it's a NAS scotch, it's quite enjoyable though! -
Glen Grant The Major's Reserve
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 15, 2016 (edited May 14, 2016)Nose is only a bit fruity, nothing further. Taste is like a cake with vanilla, cream and white chocolate. Finish is a short alcoholic zing and bit of nutty/oaky bitterness. It's not one to contemplate longly, but I'd choose this for a night of heavy drinking over pricier but comparable (for example) Glenlivet or Glenfiddich expressions. -
Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 8, 2016 (edited October 30, 2019)This is not the woman you will spend the rest of your life with. But as a young boy, this sweet and kind girl will be a great first that will make you understand how love can feel, even if it's simple. -
Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed January 9, 2016 (edited June 8, 2017)This is the girl you want to take home with you. Not just because she's pretty, smells nice, is a great kisser, or is a tiger in bed, but because she's all of those things. Captures all the complexities of a love: the light, the dark, the sweet, the fire; just like Dark Necessities from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
