Wow this is pretty good! Really sherry-forward very little peat but definitely a hint of brine. For the price its hard to beat and will be compared to Monkey Shoulder.

VERY grain-forward. It’s $20 in Oregon so worth a shot but not exceptional. I tried the Freezer method...meh. *update* like most Johnnie Walkers, this isn’t spectacular on its own but in a scotch n soda, it hits its stride.

This is such a classic bourbon. At $17 a fifth for 100 proof bourbon...you can’t go wrong. Very oaky, which I like. Definitely a bang for buck factor thats unfuckwithable.

For $22 a full liter...this is a slam dunk. A bit of sweet tobacco, brown sugar, and maple on this. Otherwise a pretty classic bourbon. REALLY good stuff.

Nose is crazy with heavy dark fruit: plums, figs, nuts...and the pallet is more of the same. Sherry NUKE!!!

The nose is insane...TONS going on. Like whisky spilled onto a leather chair. Palate is way soft and gentle, but still complex. Very savory in flavor.

VERY interesting. Like olive oil, brine, salt and citrus.

Floral and honey, even moreso than a Speyside or Highland

This is definitely a ‘gatekeeper’ scotch. For the money ($30 OR prices) you have a crowd pleaser/daily drinker thats hard to beat. I mean, JW Black is $10 more. Not much of a challenge here but it’s a good relaxing sipper. At this price point, Lismore is competition but this is a little ’cleaner’ tasting. A great ‘fair game’ bottle.

It’s nothing you won’t expect if you’ve tried the 12 year expressions but just a DAMN good scotch. It’s all the malty, sherried, dark fruit and baking spice you’d expect. Like raspberry jam and figs on a buttery biscuit. EXCELLENT.
