Kilbeggan Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed March 24, 2021 (edited February 3, 2022)Wow, this is REALLY nice. Hard to believe it’s all bourbon barrel aging, it comes off like theres sherry finishing at work. When I first pulled the cork and whiffed the bottle, I caught a bit of red wine. In the glass its all buttercream with some fruity notes, but on the pallet this could almost pass for a scotch in the vein of Glenfiddich/Glenlivet. -
Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed March 12, 2021 (edited May 31, 2021)Best Tullamore Ive tasted, and for $70 it should be. Nose is honey and a bit floral. The flavor is all jam and biscuits with that same honey coming through. Finishes with that pot still funk typical of better irish whiskys. Now, heres the dilemma: Tullamore 14 is noticeably better than Tullamore 12...single malt vs a blend and 2 more years will do that. But Tully 12 is also regularly on sale for $42 so it’s really a question of value. This isn’t a knock against the 14 so much as the 12 really delivering a LOT for the price tag. Id definitely buy this again, but unlike the 12, I couldn’t quite see it as a go-to. -
Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 5, 2021 (edited April 2, 2021)This is like a heath bar with vanilla ive cream. Seems like a pecan note goes thru it. Thanks brah! This is amazing stuff. Can’t agree with the tasting notes shown. There’s definitely spicey notes but ‘painful’? Not even. Although, I like spice.... -
Kilbeggan Small Batch Rye
Other Whiskey — Ireland
Reviewed February 26, 2021 (edited February 10, 2022)WOW. This comes out swinging! This is unlike any other rye or irish whisky I’ve ever tasted...if this were presented as some 6th style of scotch, that would make sense...something in this reminds me of a scotch. There’s chocolate and a kind of orange/lemon note on it and I get a tea note that reminds me of earl grey. It’s challenging...and I like it! -
This gets a bad rap. On its own, yeah it’s not great. But it does make a the perfect bar room scotch n soda, so there’s that. I recently tasted JW blue, and rated it the same. Yeah it’s “better” and noticeably. 10 times the price but definitely NOT 10 times better, not even close!22.0 USD per Bottle

Curiosity got the best of me, so I ponied up a $20 for the mini of this guy. For all the hype...it’s just not all that. Its smooth (hate describing a whisky that way), pleasant and it does have some nice easy drinking flavors...same as ANY quality blend. A fifth of this is $235 in Oregon. Sorry, Johnnie... I mock you’20.0 USD per Pour
