Pretty basic highland on the nose and palette but a bit of bitter/acrid flavor probably from overspent casks. Not horrible, not great. It’s ok for a cheap single malt...until you realize Lismore is like $2 more and actually pretty good. *edit, 1.5 weeks in* Damn, I tried to give this a fair shake. But I’ve downgraded it from a 2.5 to a 1.5. While the nose is pleasant enough, the palate has just devolved for me. Its all bitter, sweet and a finish that reminds me of morning breath and really shitty coffee...it’s just NOT good. Not at any price. I’ll finish the bottle—I paid my 2 bits and Im no punk bitch! So this will be the pour I sip after I’m already too buzzed to care, but I won’t be going for another. The higher versions might be worth a try but this one’s a fail for me!24.99 USD per Bottle

Bright orange, sweet but light and fragrant dominates this rum. There’s vanilla, caramel and honey in here too. A splash of this in a margarita (vs the usual triple sec, Grand Marnier etc) could be interesting. Sips nice on its own, or a little splash in another less interesting rum to make an on the fly sipper might work too.

Glad I replaced this bottle last year, as it’s been discontinued. Super rich and velvety texture with caramel, coffee, oak, tropical fruit notes. Much more refined than blue label or gunpowder proof which means this is for the glencairn only. Im tempted to try the new 15 year but reviews have not been good. Bummer. Pusser’s is the rum that made me a rum guy, the old 15 year was at one time the best rum Id tasted.

Suprisingly un-rough for what’s basically a way to get ethanol in ya. Flavor-wise there’s more going on than you’d think at this proof. You’ll get some caramel, molasses, tobacco notes. Not a sipper (duh) but it’ll get a cocktail running on all 8 cylinders or bring a pleasant but low ABV sipping rum up to par.

Cruzan Aged Light Rum
Silver Rum — US Virgin Islands
Reviewed January 30, 2020 (edited April 25, 2020)This almost works as a sipper, as light rums go. ALMOST. There’s definitely some oak, caramel and tropical fruit notes going on. It’s still best used as the backbone of your rum based cocktails since its not just tropical vodka and it’ll add its own character. If you MUST sip a light rum neat, you could do much worse. This and Plantation 3 star are my light rums of choice.
