This whisky starts with a strong nose of leather and orange peel notes, lightly smoked. The sip is first candied fruits, then the peat comes and develops in the whole mouth, with sweet salty caramel notes. It lingers for a little while, the smoke and the umami of dark chocolate lingering a bit longer on the tongue. This is all very good, excellent indeed but this Bunnahabhain isn't a difficult whisky and many connoisseurs will probably miss more tactful tastes.

Smoky yet delicately classy whisky. The peat doesn't steal the show, letting notes of mirabelle and fudge develop, with hints of vintage garments or books. A little acidity only to complement the rest. It ends in a delightful extinguished fire taste that lingers for a while. A great whisky, that is worthy of its name.139.0 CHF per Bottle

A tingly nose with notes of leather, old cask and a tad floral but all a bit light. The sip is okay, a bit acidic and salty at first but develops notes of apple, vanilla without being too syrupy, even a tad on the soft side again. All in all it's a nice whisky for its price range but doesn't punch above its category.

Arran Amarone Cask Finish Single Malt
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed October 25, 2025 (edited February 8, 2026)Strong nose of alcohol and old casks, a hint of wine but nothing much. The first sip is kind of underwhelming : this whisky is quite light and doesn't have much flavour. But after a few, the taste of good red wine is more and more apparent and lingers a bit, making this Arran fruity, nutty and definitely sunny. It is not a strong taste but it has many layers and for one, I really enjoy it!68.0 CHF per Bottle
