Tasted from a 50 ml “Souvenir” bottle bought at the distillery. Sadly, not available in the US. Taste profile is very similar to “regular” Jameson, but with strong hints of sherry sweetness from the aging casks. Very easy drinking whisky that could easily become one’s daily dram.

Wheat sweetness and young whiskey heat. Not bad, fairly easy drinking 92 proof. Will never be my daily dram.

First things first, the $23.99 price is for the 1.75L bottle at VA ABC stores. This is another bottom shelf “unicorn”. Buy it when you can find it. I have seen it compared to Basil Hayden’s and, to a point, I see the similarities. There is a nice balance of sweetness and rye spice. This one is a little more astringent than Basil’s. Still, for the price, this is a very pleasant sipping bourbon.

Nice 100 Proof Bourbon with not as much alcohol burn as I expected. Pretty much the same flavor profile as the standard 80 Proof, but a little sweeter. Taking limited availability into account, I think I prefer Very Old Barton 100.

Definitely not the “best whiskey in the world”. It is, however, a pleasantly spicy rye that could, except that there are just as good at a lower price, become a favorite everyday rye.
