Mortlach 16 Year "Distiller's Dram"
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 29, 2019 (edited June 18, 2020)With all of the advertising for Game of Thrones Single Malt Collection, Mortlach 15-year-old and at $150 US +, plus i am interested in "THE WAY" Mortlach Distills ...SO the 16 year ($100 US) peaked my curiosity Very pleasant Sweet Sherry dominant nose - slight oak Palate: More Sherry and Peat Finish: Long - consistent Balanced from start to finish -
A excellent representation of an "older ' peated scotch at its prime. 18 years seems to be the perfect age for Caol Ila . This is right up there with the heavy hitters priced much higher. Nose: Peat, mild bandaid Palate: Well balanced - peat, medicinal Finish: :Long, smooth, and pleasantly lingers & lingers and lingers WOW

Dalmore King Alexander III
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 28, 2019 (edited January 31, 2021)I am a fan of what Richard Patterson @ The Damore does with finishes...Quite a bit going on with this dram possibly muting it?? Due to retail cost i would say does not live up to price paid. Their website reads: Six different cask finishes are exquisitely curated to create a one of a kind whisky with a rich and enticing flavour profile. DALMORE KING ALEXANDER III is finished in Kentucky bourbon casks , Jerez Oloroso, Sicilian Marsala, Douro valley port , Cabernet sauvignon Sounds wonderful Nose, palate & finish are smooth but lacks my flavor profile. Not memorable -
Un familiar with this whiskey as well as it being partly matured in casks that previously held cloudberry wine?? Might be my lack of familiarity as it does not hit any high notes for me nor does not it hit any low notes. I am indifferent to it. The nose definitely lacks what I look forward to. The palate & finish good enough

Came back to the Bakers twice, as the1st time I had a Thomas H Handy 1st so the pour was muted. Def a good pour 4.25/ 5 Caramel Brown Sugar Vanilla Enough proof but not too much. I only drink neat & never add water to anything from 140+ proof on down. In today's environment ratings are more complicated if cost is factored in. So my rating is based on paying $100 - $120. As the price goes up rating goes to a 4. The bottle is very cool looking - I did not add anything in for the appearance but will look cool in any home bar

Eagle Rare 17 Year Bourbon (Fall 2014)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 14, 2019 (edited April 3, 2020)Was fortunate enough to get 3 oz for 49.65 Euros, a relative steal compared to what it would cost PER OUNCE in the US by the bottle. With that said I personally would not pay the 900.00 secondary pricing for a ER 17 The nose is refined caramel & vanilla , nothing really jumps out The palate is oak The finish i am not loving nor hatin Not really complex enough for me I still give it a 4 out of appreciation for it being 17 year age stated BTAC and the privilege to drink it. I however prefer the other 4 BTAC bottles generically irrespective of year & luckily the WLW, GTS & THH are not so hard to come by one way or another, and i would rate each of the other BTAC's all higher Cheers!!! -
