Tastes

Nose: acetone, eraser, young, something similar to citrus Palate: drying, some sweetness (hard candy?), baking spice Finish: sweet, but short Overall: I’ve been more disappointed by MW products since I first came across them years ago. I don’t think I’d buy this bottle again.

Nose: caramel latte (definitely some coffee notes), leather, like there’s some age Palate: oak, very subtle tannins, subtle vanilla sweetness Finish: hug in the throat and some tingle in the tongue Overall: not a bad pour, I bought this in KY but I’ve seen this bottle more lately in my state.

Nose: leather (in a good way), syrupy pancakes, butterscotch Palate: syrupy pancakes translates to the palate, toffee, some leather towards the back Finish: long lasting syrupy flavors. Drinks below proof Overall: picked this bottle up when on the bourbon trail with my bro. Awesome to bottle it and label the bottle and the case. Dark whiskey with bold and balance Michter’s taste profile that I enjoy.

Nose: cinnamon and baking spice, faint coffee, now getting some citrus Palate: red fruit with floral notes, super balanced throughout and drinks well below the proof Finish: get that warmth and tightness in the back of the throat that isn’t overpowering but lingers Overall: yes to this bottle. I’ve had some other Barrell’s that were a miss, but would buy this again

Nose: floral up front and then leathery with a little peanut Palate: earthy and leathery notes Finish: thin, a little drying Overall: this is an okay pour, not really in my flavor profile. Love the bottle.

Nose: typical BT mash bill, brown sugar, red fruit Palate: balanced, so good, sweet with a touch of spice Finish: little short, but good, easy drinker

Nose: vanilla and floral Palate: I don’t get a lot of pepper like I usually do with ryes; some warmth and leather on the back end Finish: drinks lower than a 104 proof rye, but long lasting subtle finish Overall: I haven’t been a big fan of other Russell bottles, but I like this one. I might need to revisit some previous tastings.

Nose: powered sugar, frosted sugar cookies Palate: grassy (not in a bad way), sweet on the backend Finish: a little warmth, tinkling…I say smooth too much, but that Overall: I’m not a huge fan of their bourbon (the rye is one of my favorite pours though), but I love this bottle

Nose: buttery, warm glazed donuts, baking spice Palate: drinks like a 90 proof even though it’s a rye (very crushable), don’t get a ton of spice, little dry oak on the back end Finish: medium, not overly complex (young) Overall: solid pour overall, staple rye

Nose: oats, sweet leather with floral hints Palate: some leather, little nutty on the back end Finish: drinks like an 80 proof, light finish Overall: nice bottle but I’d say a little on the expensive side. Glad I got to taste it before they stop releasing it.
