Taste #100 (thank you, Distller app!) Nose: typical OF banana foster but deeper and more complex, butterscotch and toffee Palate: so balanced, banana nut bread but not as sweet (little toffee transfers) Finish: pleasant, it’s viscous so coats your mouth and it definitely drinks below the proof Overall: My brother and I each scored a bottle when we visited the distillery in Lville after chatting it up with Barb (thanks, for the opportunity to purchase, Barb!). It’s probably my most prized bottle in my modest bourbon collecting career/hobby. Great legs and a much darker color in the glen compared to most of my other bourbons.180.0 USD per Bottle

Nose: buttery butterscotch Palate: too much oak that overpowers any sherry notes, pumpernickel bread Finish: short and thin Overall: The sherry finish bottle they put out a few years ago was way better. Is it weird to say that it was in the barrel too long at 6 years? Is that the double oak? Too much oak for me and price point is way to high.

Barrell Seagrass
Rye — (bottled in) Kentucky, Multiple Countries
Reviewed November 12, 2022 (edited January 14, 2023)Nose: more subtle orange and citrus compared to the palate, proof comes over more on the nose than the palate Palate: so balanced, the apricot definitely comes through but it’s not overly sweet (pleasant), citrus, great blend Finish: think it drinks below the proof, maybe the fruitiness counterbalances the ABV? Overall: Live this bottle. Barrell bottles are mostly hitters but I’ve tasted a few that completely miss for me. This is not one. Price point is tough, but will still try to keep this one stocked. -
Nose: not picking up a lot…some red fruit sweetness, sweet bread or maybe a glazed donut Palate: powdered donut but a little spicy, toasted bagel Finish: long lasting or maybe I have heart burn Overall: I like what they’re doing at Bardstown. This is a good bottle but expensive. I’m hoping their prices come down as they continue to grow and ramp up production. Will continue to pick up their bottles when I see them. Like the transparency on the label.

Wilderness Trail Bottled in Bond Small Batch Bourbon (High Rye Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 12, 2022Nose: butterscotch, little artificial sweet note like a cotton candy jelly bean Palate: tough to pick up some notes…little bready, I want to say the sweet note I’m picking up is butterscotch, but I’m really only getting that on the nose…so, nondescript sweetness Finish: wasn’t a lot of heat the first few sips but it picks up after that Overall: drinkable, but not texting my buddies about this bottle. It’s good. -
Nose: little bit of cola, bran muffin with honey Palate: nicely balanced, toasted bread, touch of sweet (red fruit) and spice Finish: spicy and warm, long Overall: I’ve been pleasantly surprised with this bottle. EC was definitely a brand I’ve overlooked and I’ve been missing out. It’s just a great sipper.

Nose: like the nose, oak with a touch of vanilla, baking spices Palate: tastes much different than the nose and I’m not a huge fan. Definitely some funk there with spice. Too much oak. Finish: Thin. For the price, I would have expected a higher proof point Overall: Been a fan of MW for years and was excited to see this lineup. I like the bottle and label and I’m a fan of the cylinder it comes in). It displays nicely on my shelf. I like the regular offering a lot more from a taste profile perspective and the price is much better. To me, this is way too expensive for a below average pour. Age statement is 5 years and I believe I paid $100. Not good. Disappointed.
