TINCUP 10 Year American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Indiana (bottled in Colorado), USA
Reviewed June 24, 2024NEAT NOSE - Cherries, Caramel, Vanilla and Oak PALATE - Extremely smooth and easy going down. There is a good bit of sweetness on the front end with a pleasant body of oak. The slightest hint of cherries and caramel come through on the end. FINISH - Incredibly smooth sipper. No burn whatsoever. Medium finish. BUY? - Yes. BUY AGAIN? - I can easily see myself replacing this one when the bottle is done. It’s nice that its so available. I look forward to trying the 14 YR. Next! -
BOTTLE No. // 88 DUMPED // 10.4.23 BARREL No. // 225 WAREHOUSE // H RICK No. // 57 NEAT NOSE - Candied cherries, Honey, Caramel, and Light oak PALATE - Palate follows the nose, but the intensity of each note varies with each sip. Given the proof, it’s impressive how bold the flavors are. The most impressive thing about this pour is the mouthfeel. This is easily the smoohest and most ‘silky’ bourbon I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. FINISH - Medium. Sweet honey and caramel with some oak on the back-end. BUY? - Absolutely, but I would hesitate paying over retail. Some stores can get crazy on their prices. I definitely wouldn’t pay if it’s more than 50 over retail. BUY AGAIN? - If Im lucky! I think I’d probably resort to paying retail myself in the future. My wife secured this one as a present for $40 over.

Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Texas Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed June 13, 2024 (edited June 14, 2024)YEAR // 2023 NEAT NOSE - Incredible! Tobacco, Oak, and Leather engulfed with notes of a dark brown sugar and THICK maple syrup! The nose is both sweet and incredibly bold. PALATE - Everything on the nose comes through on the palate with each note singing louder than others with each and every sip. There’s also a surprise note of fig newton in the middle and towards the backend. The palate is honestly crazy. You’d think this would be overoaked being that it’s a 5 year Texas double-oaked bourbon, but it’s incredibly smooth, rich, and sweet. It’s one of the most unique double-oaked whiskeys I’ve tasted. Also, the MOUTHFEEL is thick and viscous! FINISH - I feel like I could have a good nights sleep and wake up still tasting this bourbon. BUY? - Look, it comes with a price but I really think it’s worth it. Luckily, my favorite liqour store had this on sale for $170 (still steep). BUY AGAIN? - Honestly, I’ll probably buy this every year if I can; I like it that much. I don’t know how good a whiskey has to be for me to rate it 5 stars, but I’ll just say that if this was around $80-$100, it would definetly be a 5-star for me.170.0 USD per Bottle -
Ben Holladay 6 Year Rickhouse Proof Small Batch Reserve
Bourbon — Missouri, USA
Reviewed June 10, 2024NEAT NOSE - Apples, Caramel, Brown Sugar, Baking Spices, Oak PALATE - As compared to the Bottled-In-Bond 6 year, this is much more dark and rich on the palate. It’s not as sweet but it’s still packed with flavor and character. The extra proof brings out more notes of oak, cinnamon, and brown sugar. It’s more complex than the Bottled in Bond and more interesting. FINISH - Baking Spices and Oak; Long BUY? - Yes! I recommend especially if you like the bottled in bond. BUY AGAIN? - Yes, I look forward to future batches. -
Ben Holladay 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Missouri, USA
Reviewed June 9, 2024 (edited June 10, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Very sweet and fruity on the nose. I get mostly apples and caramel on the nose. PALATE - The nose transfers to the palate with a silky mouthfeel. There is no influence of oak on the palate and it doesn’t come across as grainy which some younger bourbons can tend to do. FINISH - Sweet, Medium BUY? - Yes. This is a nice foray into Missouri Straight Bourbon Whiskey. BUY AGAIN? - Yes, but I’d love to get my hands in the 7 YR when it comes out to see how it compares.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 5, 2024 (edited June 13, 2024)PICK // Spec’s WHSE. // 6 FLOOR // 7 ALC/VOL. - 64.30% PROOF // 128.6 NEAT NOSE - Maple Syrup, Dark Brown Sugar with hints of caramel. The nose is rich, bold, and sweet. It’s one of the best bourbons on the nose that I’ve had. PALATE - Thick mouthfeel. Everything comes through on the nose but it seems faint as it is overpowered by a cherry cola note. Unlike the 1920, which I though was a “flat cherry cola”, this hint of cherry cola is more similar to it warm out of the can, freshly cracked. FINISH - Oak and Cherry Cola. Long. I wish more of the sweetness came through on the finish, but not surprising that it doesn’t given the experience on the palate. 💧 💧 - With just two drops, more sweetness comes through on the finish and the richness of the pour on the nose is somewhat subdued, but still very present. BUY? - This is an interesting one as I have heard from many reviews that some of these are overly hot more often than not. Prior to this, I’ve had a sample in a store and it was not ‘hot’ at all. While it may be a toss up, I’d say try to buy at a place where you can sample the barrel first if you don’t want to take the gamble. I have two bottles and I took a gamble with both. Atleast I’m very pleased with one so far. BUY AGAIN? - It’s a gamble if you can’t sample before buying, but I’d still buy again. **DON’T underestimate what a drop of water or two will do to change the profile of a whiskey. -
Bernheim Barrel Proof Wheat Whiskey B923
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 3, 2024 (edited August 4, 2024)NEAT NOSE - Pleasant nose. This smells like lightly toasted wheat bread sprinkled with cinnamon and nutmeg with honey and caramel drizzled over it. PALATE - Silky and smooth. Honey, Cinnamon, and nutmeg are dominant on the palate. There is a minty finish on the end that’s unexpected but not unpleasant. FINISH - Medium. BUY? - Yes, great bottle at MSRP. BUY AGAIN? - Not this specific batch, but that’s okay. I look forward to seeing where this series of batches goes as this is only the second in it’s line. -
NEAT NOSE - Citrus undertones with alot of Caramel and Honey. There is also a soft hint of oak on the nose. PALATE - Smooth mouthfeel. Rich and Bold. Caramel is the most dominant note supported by honey. The oak is soft and pleasant, but bold because it is present throughout. There’s definitely more going on here, but I’m not picking up on all of it. In regard to the citrus, sometimes I get peach and sometimes I get lemon on the palate. FINISH - Smooth, easy, and lingers for a decent amount of time. I’d say around medium in length. BUY? - YES! BUY AGAIN?? - Yes! This is one of the best bottles I’ve ever bought for the price. I think MSRP is $60, but I got my bottle for $50.

Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 14, 2024 (edited June 13, 2024)WAREHOUSE // H E BARREL No. // 19-5 B This is another example of a distillery advertising tasting notes perfectly. All of these notes are from the back of the bottle and they marry together perfectly. NEAT NOSE - Rye Spice, Apricot, Pear, Cinnamon, and Toasted Oak. PALATE - Velvety mouthfeel. The Rye Spice is pleasant throughout the sip and is supported with the cinnamon toasted oak note. FINISH - The apricot and pear come through on the finish. A fruity finish is a nice and pleasant change of pace rather than having oak come through on the finish. BUY? - Absolutely. BUY AGAIN? - Shelfer. One of the best and most affordable bourbons (and single barrels) on the market! -
NEAT NOSE - Caramel and Maple with a stronge Orange Peel note PALATE - Silky smooth with the orange peel coming through first supported by a strong maple note with undertones of caramel towards the finish. FINISH - Short BUY? - Yes. This is one of the best budget bonded bourbons you can buy in my opiniom. I prefer it over the beloved Evan Williams 100. BUY AGAIN? - Yes. Automatic shelfer at the price.
