Dark and heavy, it rolls through the sinuses igniting interest with every shift in the profile. PALATE Oak, dried dark fruit, vanilla, sour cherry candy, leather, dried corn, citrus peels, baking spice, slight yeastiness. Equally heavy and bright, this complex delivery is a joy to taste. FINISH Long -> Oak, dried corn, dried dark fruit, leather, spice. -

Reviewed February 23, 2023 (edited April 11, 2023)NOSE Dried corn, brown sugar, oak, caramel, baking spice, leather, dried cherries, touch of vanilla. Inviting and grain-heavy, this is the kind of aroma you expect from well-aged Dickel. PALATE Dried corn, caramel, oak, cinnamon, leather, dried tart cherries, touch of vanilla, and brown sugar. Like the aroma, this is exactly what you want as a fan. FINISH Long -> Dried corn, oak, caramel, and spice. -
NOSE Caramel, dried corn, vanilla, sour cherry candy, dried fruit, oak, some baking spice and leather. Earthy and rustic, it starts out classic Dickel with some good sour notes showing up as it opens. PALATE Dried corn, caramel, vanilla, sour cherry candy, dried fruit, oak, some baking spice and leather. Nearly identical to the aroma with the dried corn sitting a bit higher, FINISH Medium -> Sweet and earthy with a bit of dried corn and caramel.

Reviewed February 18, 2023 (edited February 19, 2023)NOSE Peanut brittle, oak, dried fruit, complex spice, dried corn meal, brown sugar, copper. I get a strong sense of Dickel on the aroma with some added sweetness. PALATE Dried corn meal, oak, dried dark fruit, dried tropical fruit, complex spice, vanilla, toffee, and some brown sugar and copper. Wonderfully complex and dynamic with that Dickel-like dried corn punch. FINISH Long -> Dried corn meal, oak, brown sugar, dried dark fruit. -

Reviewed February 16, 2023 (edited June 5, 2023)NOSE Jammy dark fruit, dry malt, honey nut cheerios, pastries, a touch of brown sugar, vanilla and earthiness. Dense fruity profile leads and everything else revolves around it. PALATE Jammy dark fruit, dry malt, Vanilla candy, honey nut cheerios, pastries, a touch of earthiness and herbalness. Fruity but far more earthy, dry and malty than the aroma. FINISH Medium -> Fruit, malt, spice, and some earthy notes. -
NOSE Wine, dried fruit, malt, leather, baking spice, Honey Nut Cheerios, and a bit of juicy fruit gum. Soft, sweet, nuanced, and lively. PALATE Buttery malt, dark dried fruit, baking spice, graham, vanilla taffy, light cocoa and a slight earthiness. This is nice, simple without being spineless, and engaging across the palate. FINISH Medium -> Buttery malt, dried fruit, and spice.

NOSE Herbal oak, s’mores, fruity candy, Nilla wafers, waxy cherry, and some cocoa. This aroma stands out starkly from all the other Paul John I’ve had, this is unique… and lovely. PALATE Caramel, chocolate-covered cherries, vanilla cream, herbal spice, graham, cocoa, oak, dried fruit, and some light hazelnut. Heavy and dark, it’s a slow-moving tidal wave of herbal sweetness and spice. FINISH Long -> Herbal spice, oak, malt syrup, and roasted nuts.

Reviewed February 14, 2023 (edited February 16, 2023)NOSE Malt, toffee, marzipan, candied orange, dried fruit, hazel nuts, with some slight pastry spice and copper notes with a light haze of smoke. Elegant and enticing, I really enjoy sniffing this one. PALATE Malt, candied orange, honey candy, marzipan, dried fruit, spice, sultanas and a touch of oak, nuts and copper with a whiff haze of smoke. There is a lot going on here, so many levels to sink into and explore. FINISH Medium -> Sultanas, spice, candied orange and graham. -

Reviewed February 13, 2023 (edited February 14, 2023)NOSE Earthy malt, herbal honey, dried fruit, roasted nuts, waxy candy, and a light bit of smoke. The name is perfect, this has a rich earthy and woodsy aroma; it’s wonderful. PALATE Caramel, earthy malt, herbal honey, smoke, vanilla cake, waxy candy, and a light nutty note. Warm and dryly earthy with a light herbal note running through. Again, it’s just wonderful. FINISH Long -> Caramel, earthy malt, smoke, and spice. -
NOSE Buttery dried fruit, malty sweetness, honey, vanilla candy, graham and some nutmeg. Light but not exactly your typical blended Irish with that buttery kick. PALATE Malty, dried fruit, buttercream wedding candies, vanilla, honey, graham and some cocoa. Light and sweet, almost hitting a cloying lane. FINISH Short -> Buttercream candies.
