Uncorking- Nose Coming across a bit muted for me. Sharp alcohol traditional vanilla caramel. Must have a touch of rye because I'm getting some green grass notes. Taste- more woody in taste than nose hinted at, caramel, sharp spices, actually tastes above 100 proof. Bit sharp and spikes on the tongue. Nothing rounded off here at all. Lots of flavor and it's a good flavor. If you told me it's 3x the price and 15% higher proof of have believed you on both accounts. I didn't expect to like it but this is acceptable neat and would be fantastic for a mixer. At this price I wouldn't cringe at someone making a bourbon and cola with it but be a waste of the quality.

Nose- creme soda, caramel, sweet, hints of wood. Taste - caramel, a bit too sweet, not a lot depth but easy to drink and fine. Teeny bits of spice on the finish.

Uncorking- taste test against Michter's, Russell's 6yr, and Pikesville. Nose - compared to the others it's really full on the nose. More leather and grain. Richer. Taste - Oak and leather dance equal with the rye. Char and spice balance it out. Finish - is medium long with more sweetness and again leathery coming in. Hints of that stale barrel air in the end. Was my 1st pick of the set.

Uncorking- taste test against Michter's, Russell's 6yr, and Pikesville. Nose- sweet with plenty of rye spice. Taste - getting vanilla and rye. Not sure it's a perfect blend. Grass notes lughter. Nothing jumping out as unique but a very solid rye. This was my 2nd choice of the mix but probably coming in as the most standard of the 3.

Uncorking- taste test against Michter's, Russell's 6yr, and Pikesville. Nose - Rye, grass, spice. Hint of toast. Taste - Sweet before the spice of rye kicks in. Vanilla and caramel first. Then rye and spice. Mint and grass but subdued from others. Wouldn't have thought this was straight rye. Finish- is long but a bit astringent. Woody with some spice.

2nd tasting. Being uncorked fo a bit opened this up a lot. Nose - still wafers but now add peanut butter and shells. More wood sawdust. Taste- Peanut butter. With leather and hardwood. Vanilla and hints of caramel. Gentle on spices and easy sipping with no burn. Finish - dry peanut butter, slightly sweet with vanilla bean.

Nose- rich with chocolate and hops. Honey and floral. Taste- Sweet, dark honey and light milk chocolate, bits of hop. Oily mouthfeel. Hints of spice on end. Finishes nice but not really long. Amazing the change the short time in the barrel changes it. This is a desert whiskey.

Nose - sweet and perfume like, vanilla, some spice. Almost the smell of a cookie box with cardboard and dry sweet cookies. Taste - Sweet and pepper spice with browned marshmallows, oak, vanilla and some white pepper. It says more sweet than spice. Mouthfeel is thin and drying. Finish- More vanilla flavor, tannic dryness, and a touch of leather. Really dries out the palate. Some interesting bits and I like the flavors a lot but the dryness brings it down a pinch for me. Might be a great option with steak to cleanse the fats from your tongue though.
