Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2021 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 19, 2022Amazing what the toasted barrel did to mellow this out. More caramel and vanilla in the nose, no citrus like the I toasted version, bite is gone, now very smooth, great Viscous body, hints of smoke and root beer on the palette, baking spices move in like ginger and licorice, then the toast and peanut comes in. Finish medium to long finish that is dry and oaky, warm. Excellent barrel finish -
Slight citrus and vanilla in the nose, palette has hints of chocolate, and herbs like oregano, does have a bite to it. Toast and peanut, starts to creep in, but the finish is short to medium length, great for an old fashioned, and would be a good everyday sipper if it wasn’t for that bite. Another 2 years in the barrel might subdue that.
