Nose is pleasant not what you expect though. Vanilla, oak , spice slight tobacco scent left in glass. Taste is sweet at first then turns spicy and rolls into this Canadian hug. Good for $60 bucks. If you are a crown fan buy. If you expect American rye flavor pass.

So many moons later I’ve come back to this. I remember it being good. Well it’s better than I remember. Nose: vanilla, Carmel, brown sugar, a bit of ethanol. Palate: all spice, vanilla and Carmel sweetness. A bit of orange zest. It’s damn tasty. Finish: rye spices that linger a bit. Overall: it’s a really good pour in beautiful packaging. Seriously that bottle is class

It had been a while since I last tasted this, decided to take a sip to see if it was as good as I remembered. Turns out it is better. Rich and deep, this is complex well beyond what I’d expect for a 90 proof spirit. There is rye character, and so much caramel and rich creamy vanilla. Delicious.
