Evergreen mint, menthol and herbs on the nose. The palate is clean and crisp with many of the aromatic characters represented with mint, creme de menthe, anise, clove and spice. The finish lasts and brings in additional layers of dried fruit, toast, and herbs. If you are looking for a non traditional rye with more gin-like qualities, this may be your pour.
The only other rye I've tasted was a Canadian one distilled in the late 60s. So here goes. This one smells bright, and the first impression on the palette is banana tart. Sun-ripened strawberries, brown sugar, and cedar. Finishes with aniseed and light mint.

Nose: Ripe banana, apricot, clove, some sort of green leaf spice.
Palate: Spicy, rye, vanilla, sweet, and a slight licorice candy like finish.
This is better than any bourbon or rye that I've had (although, this is only my second Rye). It's an after dinner whiskey that will be perfect for the coming winter months. I'm kind of disappointed that I split the bottle.
