Jack Daniel's Triple Mash

Aromas and flavors of banana bread with a little spice from the rye

NOSE Dried cherries sweet cream, vanilla, oak, cornflakes, and some malty sweetness and copper. Sweet, nuanced, heavy, fun… I like it. PALATE Dried cherries, sweet cream, vanilla, orange zest, oak, copper, roasted grain, baking spice, and a slight tannic bite. Complex and delicious, I ended up drinking my first glass of this way too fast. FINISH Med-long -> Roasted grain, caramel, dried fruit, and malty sweetness.

On the nose the rye spice and malt from the mash are extremely up front and present. The sweet notes are overshadowed by the peppery notes. Upon the mouth swish, notes of pepper and rye fill the throat with a banana nut bread taste present. The malt, rye spices, and black pepper notes linger in the throat creating a pleasant burn similar to that of a good Canadian Rye. Complex and pleasant. Nose: Banana Pudding, light, slight coconut, hint of toffee, cohesive Notes: Heats up, stringent Finish: Meek Summary: The nose is highly intriguing and complex but falls completely flat on sip. Set-up: 5 set blind tasting of 100proof TN & KY bourbons. Water between. Nose all samples first.

Nose and palate arrested attention right off the neck pour. Lost taste and smell for a period. When they returned, air in the bottle had made it all the more better, akin to rekindling a friendship where the first laughs you share with that long distanced kindred spirit are better than the first all those years ago.
