Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength

Incredible - an all time favorite. My first Old Forester single barrel barrel strength and I’ll definitely be back for others! Reminds me a lot of Jack Daniel’s single barrel barrel proof which is a banger on its own. Gallenstein Selection #15 Warehouse: K Floor: 2 127.8 proof

GIA Bourbon Club 2021 pick Warehouse K; Floor 3 63.55% abv; 127.1 proof Nose - Cinnamon bun, banana bread, tobacco leaf, brown sugar, gingerbread, fresh grain, strong oak, and medium ethanol. Palate - Sickly sweet cinnamon caramel syrup, oiled leather, vanilla frosted gingerbread cookies, allspice, cardamon, black cherries, dark chocolate, and black pepper. Finish is long and oily, caramel, black pepper, light on oak tannins, medium ethanol, and a delectable powdered sugar and caramel candy finish after the tannins, spice, and ethanol kick. This is one of the best finishes I've had in a bourbon, hands down. Received a 2 oz sample from a friend. This is a great pick. To warm up my palate I sipped on some Jack Daniel's SBBP, one of the easiest comparisons to this flavor profile. This is much better than the current JDSBBP bottle I have. It tastes rich, complex, and old. Think of ECBP C919 and C920 and you'll know what league this pick is playing in.

Blind hp bourbon tasting. This one noses quite sweet. More sweet than wood. Decadent. I don’t get any singe on the nose despite the 130+ proof. Cherry, caramel, maybe a slight banana note. Makes me think something Brown Forman. The palate shows more heat than I was expecting from the nose. The first taste is again more fruit. A little sharp. The caramel comes in more on the second pass. Some tannic oak rounds out the finish. It’s good, but I prefer the previous pour of Woodford Reserve… 2nd taste: I saved half the sample and am comparing sbs with the Woodford. The OF is more intense. The oak stands out much more in the sbs. The back end has a nice swell of caramel cherry sweetness before turning the corner to the oaky finish. In the sbs I might actually give the edge to the OF. Tough call here. I’ve gone back and forth and even written out different conclusions more than once. At the moment, I’d give the edge to the OF. The intensity has grabbed me at this tasting, but I could see going the other way in another tasting. Ultimately, both great bourbons. Again, really grateful to @Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington for the sample!

SO strong but manages to get some flavors through- oak, caramel, cereal, a bit of rye toast, leather in the finish.

Carmel, oak, leather, tea. 133pf brings the heat.

Warehouse 6, floor 2. Gallenstein #14 pick. 64% ABV. Nose: cornbread, blueberry pancake, maple Taste: mirrors the nose with butterscotch and a finish of dusty corn

Not bad. Have to work at it.

Sweet corn and a bit of marshmallow on the nose. Vanilla, cinnamon spice, and surprisingly a hint of boiled peanut. Nice, oily coating, and long finish
