Sweet and Spicy This tastes sweeter than I'd expect. At first I taste caramel, then I taste a spiciness in the wood. It's very similar to bourbon to me, but it actually seems brighter, with some fruitiness to it. There is an off flavor, I get a phenolic note. This is probably from malted barely that they hint at using, but I can hardly taste it, I have to focus to find it. Overall this is a pretty good value, but isn't game changing in any way. This seems like a more spicy bourbon than a rye to me, but maybe that's what you want.35.0 USD per Bottle

sweet and bland Tastes more like a sweet vodka than a rum. Can be used to make relatively less complex drinks like mojitos with white sugar, it really does a good job there. I'm going to test this against wrey and nephew in the mojito department to see if the cheapness of this rum will still make it my party rum. For $20 a handle its insanely cheap, but you don't get much flavor for the price. In fact, if there was a price per flavor metric, this would probably end up being a bad deal.20.0 USD per Bottle

Hogo and sweet This rum smells and tastes like Molasses. I actually just smelled a jar of molasses to double check, it does. Now for some people molasses tastes like butt, I tend to agree, but I could see this growing on me or mixing well. When made into daiquiris it cuts straight through the lime and sugar, so it probably has to be made into more complex or even tiki drinks. I'm trying it in a mojito with demerara syrup next, more to come. For the price this is well worth it, you get a lot of ethanol and flavor here, p4p most I've seen.21.0 USD per Bottle

Fruity, tart and sweet. This liqueur is amazing to mix with. I personally wouldn't drink it neat because of how much utility it has. However, when I drink it on the rocks I get a very strong sweetness. There is a cotton candy, grape taste that is overwhelming considering this is a very dry orange liqueur. I also taste the orange and a bit of that vanilla oaky richness, but not much. When mixed in cocktails you get an added layer of complexity that is much needed. Price varies widely from store to store. I found it once for $45. Don't get it for that price as it jacks up the price of your cocktails. It is worth it at ~$35, but I pick it up at $27, which is great value.27.0 USD per Bottle

Sweet and Rich. This spirit is very rich. When I drink it neat, I can't really pick up many flavors, I get overwhelmed. On the rocks this drink is sublime. I get a very rich vanilla cream taste with just a hint of that orange. I also taste toasted sugar and nutty flavors. This drink is so complex. I haven't had much luck mixing with this so far, the flavors get lost, but I'm still going to try. It is a bit on the pricey side, because I haven't found much utility for it. but if you want to drink this neat or on the rocks, and like that rich vanilla taste, its worth it.34.0 USD per Bottle

Don Julio Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed January 11, 2021 (edited February 25, 2021)Spicy and herbal. The tequila is quite spicy and tastes strongly of agave. minor notes are: its more oily than I expected, I actually pick up a hint of lemon. The finish is smooth and sweet with a final spice kick. I love this tequila in margaritas. It compliments the lime and orange liqueur so well. It brings a herbal and spicy note to the drink that you are missing otherwise. At ~$40, you are looking at each Margarita you make running you about $2.50. That is quite pricey, but its worth it. You really only need two a night, and then you can switch to the cheaper stuff.43.0 USD per Bottle -
Bland, This tequila smells like tequila and not much else. When I taste it I get some cleaning product type flavors along with the agave. The drink is quite oily in a bad way too. I use this tequila to mix with, and it actually does reasonably well here. In margaritas the orange liqueur and lime shine through, and it works. it's a safe choice for margaritas, but it isn't interesting at all, and must be mixed. You can probably get better options for the same money.25.0 USD per Bottle

Very Junipery This was recommended as a standard gin to me for mixing. All I get is juniper on this one. I can taste that it is more complex, but I get overwhelmed by the juniper. It mixes better in a collins than sipsmith, but its not too exciting for me. This is probably what a classic london dry gin should taste like, but it isn't my cup of tea. Now this gin is super affordable, its worth the price.24.0 USD per Bottle

Spicy and Juniper I use this gin for Tom Collins. This gin tastes and smells like the kitchen sink neat. I can't even pick out the flavors because I get hit over the head with Juniper and spices. But when I taste this in a Collins it shines through, it pushes the lemon around and it stands up to the lengthening. The gin isn't even that expensive to mix with, I think it is well worth the price as a mixer, but I'm not drinking this neat/on the rocks.26.0 USD per Bottle
