Appleton Estate Signature Blend Rum
Gold Rum — Jamaica
Reviewed July 15, 2020 (edited November 12, 2020)84 rating is kinda low balling this easy sipper. It's not forward on any flavor in the spectrum, but there is a wave of baking spices, vanilla oak and some funk. This can easily be a go to all summer and would be an easy sell for the rum and coke drinker. Appleton Estate definitely scratches the itch when one wants rum. Nonetheless, when the bottle goes quick that usually means one thing. It's good.22.0 USD per Bottle -
If you drink rum..don't get this. If you want to taste funky crafted rum? Get this. You really need to drink a variety of rum to appreciate the quality of this pot still beauty. I have to say the smell is difficult to accept at first.. but a few deep sniffs to find the alcohol, sip and exhale.. wow! Mineral water, pot still elegance, sea salt, delicate cane sugar, soft barrel char and sweet fruit. But the fruit is entirely up to you to find. Banana, sure, but ripe. Strawberry, yea I find it. Tart. Pineapple, mhmm. It's all about getting OVER that smell, nothing can really compare. It's very well crafted and layered in flavor. It's really a top shelf experience and VERY unique.28.0 USD per Bottle

"the bottle went rather quickly" as one might read in another review. And it couldn't be more true. This bottle, when shared, might not make it the full night. It's tasty! Smooth, fruity as shit, sugary.. bit of spice and just really good! Like salivating, good. All that's missing with this stuff is the sand between your toes! MUCH better than the big brands! Power's is a staple of Irish whiskey. Without Jameson, Power's and even Bushmills, Irish whiskey would be kaput. Those 3 weathered the harsh history of Irish whiskey and stand proud today. However, Power's is a Middleton product and has been in the shadows of Jameson for some time. It is a fuller and more robust whiskey than Jameson and Paddy's. Heavier than Bushmills but a bit less flavorful than Tullamore. I will probably pass on Power's Gold Label and reach for the Powers Three Swallow SINGLE POT, only because Gold label is properly priced with the entry level Irish whiskey. Would definitely choose Power's over "Jame-o" as Jameson tends to be a shot whiskey.25.0 USD per Bottle

We see a handful of reviews that compare to brands like Redbreast, Green Spot and Writers Tears. Top shelf shit! The Irishman, distilled at Walsh Distillery, the same as Writers Tears.. has a heavy single malt and pot still blend.. it is fantastic! It could very well be a bench mark for Irish whiskey, especially with such strong POT STILL flavor. Single Malt texture with bursting pear, green apple nose + taste with smooth honey finish. It's obvious why some toss around Redbreast, Green Spot and Writers Tears comparisons, it is really THAT good! If one where looking to explore Irish whiskey, I'd start here knowing this is really good stuff.30.0 USD per Bottle

They call it funk. It is funky. Might not be a fan favorite out of the gate but, this rum has its place. Like, with a spliff! The cognac hogo punch turns over to heavy brown sugar. Barrel char follows and washes away with vanilla oak, heat.. it's different, cause of the Cognac barrel finish.. but it's cigar worthy tell a buddy, kinda rum! It's French (sweet) Rum..17.0 USD per Bottle

George Dickel No. 12
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed May 6, 2020 (edited February 20, 2021)The expert tasting notes nailed ever nail on the head. It's all quality smells and taste, nothing off or bad about it. It's a wave of hot, delicate, and finely tuned.. Tennessee Whisky. Great for humid weather. A rainy day whisky. Would kick ass in any mix drink. Cascade Hollow does whisky right!20.0 USD per Bottle -
Take a bunch of classic pot still Irish Whiskey taste, add the density of (fresh) single malt.. boom. Walsh Distillery just presents a fine, smooth classic example of well made, go to Irish Whiskey. This will stop one in their track to persue an everyday Irish whiskey, a fall back. A legit go to that will impress others. It's bang for the buck. It's just good smooth shit.40.0 USD per Bottle

So these Teeling kids are damn good! All the barrels have their strength all over this whiskey. Front, back, smell and burn. It's a play in barrel expression. And they nailed it. If your transition from the iodine, smokey scotch is back to Irish whiskey or bourbon. This is that slide. Or vice versa. It's a real emphasis on how smooth and light Irish whiskey has always been. The barrels provide the flavor! A unique and we'll crafted whiskey. I'll probably check out Connemara after this! 😉 Teeling/Cooley 😉60.0 USD per Bottle

This is the Irish whiskey I took the leap from Traditional to Craft. Still has that Irish classic. The wine barrels play the part in dryness. Nose and finish. It's no Tennessee whiskey by any means; with all that corn and all. Still Irish. Think, how a craft brewery brews Lagers? Would be a crowd pleaser at a bonfire or around Christmas. My most likely go to for Teeling.45.0 USD per Bottle
