Larceny Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2020 (edited August 24, 2020)The nose of the bourbon is largely composed of licorice and sweet mint. There is a very faint wisp of banana in it as well. On the tongue the whiskey posseses a fruity spice. It has an oily mouthfeel that, though unexpected, is not unpleasant. A mix of banana and stone fruit make up the sweet aspect of the taste, with a lovely spice rounding out the body. It finishes with a bit of fire and herbaceousness reminiscient of the anise and mint from the nose. There is a pleasant bite that tickles the throat, and settles into a hearty glow in the chest. Late in the finish, the taste of the charred oak cask fills the mouth with a pleasant aftertaste. This whiskey is very good neat, and may make an excellent cocktail as well. -
The nose of the blend is lead by the scent of baking spices, quickly followed by alcohol. It's possesses a light sweetness of cinnamon and toasted nuts, and ends in a peaty smoke. On the tongue, this blended scotch is a spicy and smoky affair. It leads with spice that slowly fades into a sweet smoke with hints of burnt caramel. It has an oily mouthfeel, and the spice returns in the swallow. Smoke returns in the finish and lingers in the mouth after swallowing. The scotch leaves a glow in the chest that is almost harsh. It feels a little burnt for sipping neat, but may be quite nice in a Rob Roy.

Cleveland Underground Bourbon Finished in Black Cherry Wood
Bourbon — Ohio, USA
Reviewed June 30, 2020 (edited November 18, 2020)The nose of the bourbon is heavy with the scent of cherry and spice. There is also a faint scent of cask wood that slowly grows as you nurse the nose. On the pallet the whiskey possesses a cherried sweetness and a woody body that transitions into rich spice. As the drink matures on the tongue the wood develops into the aftertaste. The spice reminiscient of baking spices and settles into a warm glow in the chest. The whiskey is very good neat, but a drop of water may open it up nicely. -
The nose of the whiskey features fruity notes of apricot and pear with just a hint of baking spice. On the tongue the whiskey has a mellow sweetness that slowly grows into a mild spice. It has a fruity sweetness with notes of pear and the faintest hint of vanilla that develops into the spice and a bit oak. It has very little bite and goes down quite smoothly, with little to no glow in the chest. Late into the finish these flavors become somewhat medicinal. It is a little thin for a sipping whiskey, however, it could make an excellent cocktail if provided adequate support from the other components.25.0 USD per Bottle

The nose of the whiskey is dark and sweet with a smokey base upon which vanilla and spice rest. Visually, the blend is strikingly beautiful. It is dark and rich, reminiscent of the dark char of the barrels in which it is aged. On the tongue, the whiskey has a rich spice that transitions into a sweet vanilla middle. The finish is strong and settles into a pleasant glow in the chest. The whiskey is highly reminiscent of a high rye bourbon. It is excellent neat, and may be well enjoyed in a manhattan or other whiskey cocktail as well.

The nose of the whiskey features cereal notes along with a sweetness that is somewhere between caramel and toffee. On the tongue the drink possesses a smooth and velvety mouthfeel and a pleasant burn that does not bite in the throat as it settles in the chest. The flavor profile consists of cereal notes once again with just a hint of berry in the finish. A good whiskey, best enjoyed neat.

The nose of the liqueur is distinctly citrus based. Lemon comes immediately to the fore, with a hint of lime and other fruits behind it. There is also a very faint breath of spice. On the tongue the drink is sweet with a slow transition into mellow spice. One can distinctly taste the gin base without it overpowering the botanical mix unique to Pimm's. There is a subte spice in the finish that contains a hint of cinnamon (and perhaps anise) Very late in the finish there is an earthy quality to the liqueur that enhances the experience of the fruit and spice in the drink with every new sip. It is excellent poured over ice with lemonade, and I suspect it would be very good in a warm winter cocktail as well.

The nose of the bourbon features playful notes of toffee, vanilla, and toasted bread, with the slightest hint of banana. On the tongue, this whiskey tastes sweetly of buttered toast that transitions into cask oak and vanilla. There is a spice to the drink that enhances it and developes into the finish. It settles into a pleasant, if mild, glow in the chest while the spice lingers on the tongue. Excellent neat.
