The nose is delightfully spicy with notes of nutmeg and cinnamon. There is an undercurrent of sharp and sweet vanilla (reminiscent of vanilla extract) and just the barest hint of leather. On the palate the whiskey is rich and indulgent. The drink opens with a hint of cacao that grows into rich spice and smooth sweetness. It carries notes of cinnamon and vanilla with an oily mouthfeel. A drop of water opens the flavor and adds the wood of the cask as well as a peppery bite to the drink. The whiskey finishes in a smooth and pleasant burn that settles into a warm glow in the chest. Like the embers of a campfire beneath a desert sky. Very late in the aftertaste, a hint of leather comes through. Absolutely marvelous neat. I prefer the whiskey without a splash of water and would not insult it by mixing. My favorite rye to date.

The nose of the whiskey features notes of caramel, browned butter, and a bare hint of banana. On the palate, the whiskey has a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. The vanilla of the white oak casks is present in the body of the taste. There are notes of cinnamon, that carry into the finish of the taste. It is in the finish that the rum cask comes to the fore with a dark, rich spiciness. The aftertaste features a buttery sweetness. Best enjoyed neat.

The nose is heavy but complex. It presents with peat and smoke upfront, with the scent of burnt sugar lingering in the background. There is a briny scent beneath the peat that plays together into just the barest hint of herbal notes. The taste begins with a shocking sweetness of stone fruit and a light lemon finish. There is an undercurrent of peat throughout the duration of the taste. The whisky has a slightly oily mouthfeel, and late in the finish the lemon, brine, and peat play together in a bitter aftertaste. Refreshing your palate with a bit of water brings out the burnt sugar and stone fruit sweetness again. In the end, the spirit settles into a warm glow in your chest. Marvelously complex and with a surprising sweetness, this drink should not be adulterated by mixing or dilution. A wonderful experience. The Exchange Whiskey bar

The nose of the whiskey contains the scents of burnt vanilla, woodsmoke, and a hint of dark cherry at the end. On the palate, the drink starts with the taste of honey that transitions into vanilla in the body of the taste. There is an undercurrent of baking spice throughout that finishes with a peppery bite and a floral bitterness. It has the sweet, alcohol forward taste of a young whiskey, though the influence of the older ryes is clearly apparent in the complexity of the flavor profile. The Exchange Whiskey bar

The nose of the whisky is dominated by the scent of blueberry muffins. Beneath that, a faint macadamia nuttiness may be detected. There is just the barest whisp of floral notes, reminiscent of lilacs. On the tongue, the drink is sweet and floral with notes of almond and a hint of demarara sugar in the finish. A unique experience. The influence of the cognac casks is very apparent in the soft sweetness of the drink. It is not at all like a traditional whiskey, but it is very pleasant nonetheless. The Exchange Whiskey bar

On the nose, this whisky is all honey with just the barest hint of sherry and smoke. There is just a breath of salty brine at the very end. On the tongue the scotch is sweet and rich. It is gentle, with honey dominating the flavor profile before muted pepper and floral notes enter the taste. True to the nose, it finishes with a hint of salty brine. The mouthfeel is rich and luxurious. It is a delightful experience that should go over very well with those new to scotch whisky.

The nose presents with the sweet scent of stone fruits, honey, and sherry. There is a layer of smoke underneath reminiscent of charred white oak barrels used for aging bourbon. It transitions into honey and smoke, with some spice. The finish consists of toffee and the barest breath of oak casks. Absolutely delicious.

Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed April 17, 2021 (edited May 18, 2021)"Sweet, buttery, and full of bourbon up front. Rye spice with loads of black pepper in the middle. The finish is all earthy smoke with a clean finish. High west hails from Park City, Utah, They blend some of the finest whiskeys in all the land. Their base is a 16 year old rye, which has become quite rare. This beautiful dram is sadly disappearing until the supply can once again meet the demand." - Bartender's Note (Garret) The nose presents with the muted scents of dried stone fruits upon a foundation of smoke and peat. Navazos-Palazzi Palo Cortado Cask Malt Whisky (July 2014)
Single Malt — Spain
Reviewed April 17, 2021The nose of the whisky presents with a dark, salted caramel scent. Just beneath this are hints of charcoal, smoke, and the dry sweetness of the sherry cask. The final notes of the finish present the barest whisp of cacao. On the tongue, the whisky maintains the dryness of the sherry with delightful notes of caramel and smoke. As you taste, the charcoal notes off the nose add complexity to the flavor and deepen the experience into a rich, dark, salted experience. There is the faintest breath of floral notes (presumably from the sherry cask) and smoke in the finish. An absolutely delightful experience, strong, complex, and utterly delicious. This whisky is best enjoyed neat or with a splash and otherwise unadulterated. The Exchange Whiskey bar
