The first flavour I notice right off the start both on the nose and palate is vanilla. Full body flavour, mix of sherry and caramel as well with an oily coating on the palate. A mild aftertaste, somewhat short with some spice. Reminds me a bit of the Aberlour 12 year but it’s not quite the same. In my personal opinion, the flavours aren’t what I was expecting, I was hoping to get something a little more complex, more of that sherry flavour, maybe I haven’t had enough of it yet to really judge properly, but it doesn’t necessarily fit my preferred flavour profile, but still a good whisky nonetheless.

Glenlivet 18 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 12, 2021 (edited February 21, 2021)This is honestly one of the smoothest scotch’s I’ve tasted. On the nose i found hints of honeyed apple with a nice sherry sweetness and a bit of smoke. Full and rich flavours on the palate. I get hints of apple, honey, brown sugar, oak and sherry (from the casks) and a toasted nuts. The flavours are straight forward so you don’t need to think too hard and wonder what notes you are getting. It’s smooth and buttery, full of flavour and not harsh at all. As you let it sit in your mouth and coat the palate you definitely notice some smoke but very pleasantly cut through by the sweet flavour of the honey and apple. It is creamy, smooth and an easy scotch to drink. Definitely would buy this ! -
Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed January 2, 2021 (edited January 10, 2021)A while ago I had tried this for the first time and got more of a smoke note than any other flavour from this bottle. Now, a year later I get completely new tasting notes than previously. I find it to be sweeter than the first time i tried it. The nose is lightly smoky and the pallet has a lot more honey sweetness now than before paired with a nice light peat smoke. Easy to drink, gets smoother as you go. -
On the nose and pallet you get a hint of fruit, a nice mild peat smoke and vanilla flavour as well. The smokiness is soft enough to allow the flavours not to be over powered by it, but it enhances those flavours and aromas instead. I also get a hint of orange, chocolate and a mild lupini bean aftertaste on the pallet which is completely different from what I’m used to but not bad at all. I always love a sherry cask finish and this bottle is no exception. Really good, easy to drink.
