Light and aromatic, fruity and easy to drink. Reminds me of Glenmorangie in many ways, not as complex but definitely on the fruity side of spectrum. Smooth on the way down and a great sweet flavour the more you drink. I can easily see myself buying this again and enjoying it more often as a go to whisky.

For a cask strength 57.5% ABV (115 proof) whisky, it’s surprisingly flavourful. You get some sweet fruity aromas and flavours, but only after the strong alcohol forward notes on the nose and palate. When adding a splash of water, the flavours definitely soften up a little and allow them to come forward a little more, you still get a good mix of sweet and spicy!

Comparing this to the original Jameson Irish whisky, the colour is slightly darker, the flavour is rich and creamy. That hint of beer comes through subtly but nicely and overall makes the whisky very smooth, smoother than the original in my opinion. I also love the story of how this came about, that Jameson sent over a whisky barrel to the neighbouring brewery for their experiment of craft beer with Irish whisky barrels, borrowing those flavours. Those barrels were then sent back to the Jameson Distillery to be used again with the stout flavour to bottle the whisky, each getting there own blend out of the agreement.

BenRiach Heart of Speyside
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 14, 2021 (edited July 14, 2022)BenRiach Heart Of Speyside Very light in Color and taste. Easy to drink. Gentle hint honey and an earthy note I can’t quite pick up. It costs the palate lightly afterwards leaving a subtle aftertaste of peat, smoke and spice blended together. -
Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask (Old Bottling)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed May 12, 2021Macallan in general has always been one of my favourite scotches. It has such a distinct flavour that you can pretty much pick it out of a line up! Great taste, smooth, easy go to! -
I actually quite like this blended whisky, it has some different fruit aromas. Not many whiskies that I’ve tasted give off hints of both orange and vanilla together. Smooth, not spicy, but there is some cinnamon I’ve noticed, great combination of flavours. The bottle design is really cool and I’m a fan of the Monkey Shoulder logo on the edge of the bottle, giving it its distinctive touch.

Tasted this bourbon for the first time this past weekend and was pleasantly surprised with it. Its definitely got some spice, rye notes to it but it’s still consistently smooth. I noticed as well a generous honey/caramel note that I always love, brings a nice sweet profile to counteract the spice and kinda brings it some balance. All in all not a bad bottle with a pretty good price tag.

Auchentoshan Three Wood
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 2, 2021 (edited June 8, 2021)This is the first time I’ve tried a Lowland Single malt whisky and I’m both surprised and intrigued. The aromas and flavours of this bottle seem a bit unique to me, since it’s a “Three Wood” meaning from 3 barrels that give 3 completely different flavours which is nice, almost like getting the best of each barrel. I noticed right off the bat the richness of this whisky. How smooth it was yet rough at the same time, fruity, buttery and coats the mouth nicely which is also a good sign for me. I like when there’s a hint of spice, or char. On the nose you can smell some of the sweet aromas of fruit and vanilla. On the palate you still get those same notes but with an added touch of a toasted sugar, ash, blackberry, vanilla, great combination, easily went for another dram after the first tasting. I recommend this bottle to anyone is search of a great whisky from the Lowlands.
