Booker's Bourbon Batch 2022-01 "Ronnie's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed May 25, 2022 (edited August 23, 2022)Mahogany color. On the nose I get dark cherries, brown sugar, vanilla ice cream, raw cinnamon stick and some sweet oak. The mouthfeel is velvety, slightly oily and warm. The palate has more brown sugar and cinnamon, vanilla bean, butter toffee, and boiled peanuts, with hints of black pepper, allspice and dried figs, and just the right amount of oak. The finish is medium-long and hot, slightly drying, led by the oak and baking spices, with really none of the sweet elements from the nose and palate.70.0 USD per Bottle -
On the nose I get orange zest, wet stone, faint chocolate-peppermint candy and agave. The mouthfeel is warm and slightly oily. On the palate, I get notes of vanilla, napoles, roasted pumpkin seeds, campfire smoke and charcoal, with fainter notes of lemon zest, burnt sugar and wet stone. The finish is long and hot, with the campfire smoke and charcoal notes lingering throughout, along with fainter vanilla, citrus, burnt sugar and wet stone. Very drinkable and there is a lot to pick apart and like if you take your time with it.50.0 USD per Bottle

Port Charlotte 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 1, 2022 (edited January 20, 2023)Straw color. Peat-forward nose, with notes of vanilla, grilled peaches, bacon, campfire marshmallows and iodine. Mouthfeel is thin, almost watery, which is surprising considering the long legs on the glencairn. The palate is dominated by smoked bacon, along with fresh laid asphalt, potting soil, peppercorns, a faint herbal note like dried rosemary and a mild honey sweetness. The finish is medium-long and dry with honey baked ham, grilled meats, faint bandaids, iodine and dried rosemary.65.0 USD per Bottle -
Deep copper color. The nose has brown sugar, vanilla bean, cloves, butterscotch, pipe tobacco and faint cedar. Heavy, warm mouthfeel. The palate has a lot of brown sugar, vanilla, clove and allspice, with lighter notes of green melon, ripe bananas, maple syrup, dried apricots, a touch of sea salt and maybe... Christmas fruit cake? The finish is long and warm, with more brown sugar, vanilla, salted caramel, baking spices, and light cedar. Overall, not my favorite ECS, but excellent.95.0 USD per Bottle

Clase Azul Tequila Reposado
Tequila Reposado — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed February 18, 2022 (edited March 1, 2023)The nose is a lot sweeter than I expected with the vegetal agave sweetness, along with vanilla extract and butterscotch. Vanilla and butterscotch continue on the palate, with notes of spearmint tea and black tea, diet cola (artificial sweetener), and a little wet stone. The finish is fairly short with more vanilla, mint, diet cola, and the faintest wisp of agave. My initial impression is that this could be considered a bourbon-drinker's tequila, but honestly I think there is just too much sweetness here (maybe barrel influence, maybe something else) that overpowers the delicate tequila notes. Personally, I prefer the plata expression.159.0 USD per Bottle -
Rebel Single Barrel Cask Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 3, 2022 (edited February 9, 2023)Barrel 7533571 Filled 11/2/2016 Amber color. Like the Rebel 100, the nose and palate are dominated by standard notes of vanilla, caramel and cinnamon. The mouthfeel is much richer and hotter, and a bit oilier, than the Rebel 100. Lots of cinnamon chewing gum on the palate, along with burnt sugar and browned butter, and hints of leather and sweet oak. The finish is medium-long and nicely warming, again led by cinnamon chewing gum (that you've chewed on for a while), a light note of fresh baked bread and some tannic oak.50.0 USD per Bottle -
