Oily, lovely on the tongue. On the nose it's a loaf of banana bread coming out of the oven... The finish is quite muted without any water. This is a MUST add a few drops of water bourbon. Spice emerges as does a decent, but not awesome finish. Spearmint and menthol late. Very good, but short of great, let alone epic

Baker's Single Barrel Bourbon 13 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 6, 2022 (edited November 7, 2022)OK, it was good. Heck, it's a high end Jim Beam product, so I'm going to have a predilection to love it. But it wasn't noticeably better than the standard. I Mark it as the same as the standard. This shouldn't be read as negative. Just not a reason to chase or pay more. -

Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond 8 Year (Spring 2021)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 21, 2022 (edited October 30, 2022)Salted Caramel bomb. That's a compliment. Frankly does remind me of Elijah Craig Barrell Proof in flavor. Rich and oily brown sugar notes. Just lovely -
Rabbit Hole Cavehill Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed September 16, 2022 (edited October 31, 2022)OK, it's good. To pretty darn good. But a little sweet without corresponding spice or depth. Caramel, molasses, coconut, chocolate. Almost like chocolate syrup. Water helps, but even that can't this to a 4.0. The finish is mostly fresh ground black pepper. -
John J Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed September 10, 2022 (edited October 22, 2022)Aroma is of cherry and oak. Flavor is like a butterscotch or caramel hard candy. Really fruity with a moment of nuttiness. A good deal of baking spice and some clove. Couple drops of water bring out some chocolate and coffee notes. Thought about Mexican chocolate with the spice. I keep thinking of hard candy and caramels when sipping on this. -
Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed September 9, 2022 (edited November 5, 2022)This is a great Bourbon. The Aroma is not anything that stands out, but the flavor and finish more than make up for this. Lots of herbaceous notes with some mint, Creamy vanilla and menthal. Lots of fruit just below the surface and a hard candy sweetness that's well balanced with the spice. The finish is the star of the show. One sip, well over a minute and your still in the moment. A few drops of water add both length and depth while maintaining the balance. So glad that I spotted this on the shelf -
Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 26, 2022 (edited September 17, 2022)Cherry, then apple, oak & corn grain in the Aroma. Very spicy and a touch hot for a 107 proof. Cinnamon, baking spices, a light bread note and finishes like a Fire Ball (candy). Water usually brings out more spice, in this case it brings out more bread, brown sugar and even molasses notes. This is a must add water bottle. Just 3 or 4 drops brings this more into focus. I get a lingering tobacco & molasses flavor. Moments of chocolate and coffee as I work through the glass. This seems to be one that you have to let wash over you. Try as I might, I can't get this to a full 4.0.
