Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Rye (2023 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 16, 2023Nose - Super smokey, lots of char leather and oak. Almost like a high west campfire but more balanced. Turns into the smell of bbq, savory meats with touches of bbq sauce. After opening up more, its turns into a caremel bomb. Palate - Super savory, all the mesquite bbq comes through so much. Little bits of dark sweetness comes through, pops of caramel or dulce de leche. Just so smokey, it really is the frontal note on all fronts. Finish - More of that savory smokiness. Not long and not hot, quite nice and light at the end. -

Reviewed December 16, 2023**MASS/CHECKERS INTEGRIDY FARMS** Nose - Nuttiness, like a salted boiled peanut. A little touch of sweetness, from melted brown sugar. Got loads of oak and leather. Palate - This is very gummy, instantly starting chewing. More of that nose followed in literally. Lots of savory and sweet notes, like a sweet christmas ham. Some vanilla in there, sugar notes. Combined altogether nicely. Finish - The finish is sweet, hot and long. Vanilla and cinnamon with a kentucky hug that lingers in your chest, but not too harsh at all. -
Nose - Cinnamon apple. Thick and dark caramel. A little bit of tobacco and dustiness. Letting it open I cot a fruit blast with lots of cherry, pear, and apple. Palate - Cinnamon apple pie. Buttery crust. Lots of apple and sweet spice. The palate is incredible, hot like a typical stagg jr but very desserty. Lots of vanilla as well. Really an apple pie with a scoop vanilla ice cream. Finish - Lots of barrel spice, barrel char. and cinnamon. Still a linger of sweetness that follows down.

***MBS FAFO PICK*** Nose - Lots of pepper. Grapes are very abundant, almost like a dark grape that would be used to make a red wine. Some typical oak and leather notes come through followed by some vanilla and dark berry. Also some cherries as it opens. Palate - Super bright and sweet. Yes lots of pepper, baking spice, oak and leather. But whats different about this Sib is the bright berries and vanilla cream. Lots of chewiness in the mouth feel makes this feel like an extremely high quality bourbon. Finish - Finish is solid. Nice and balanced with that quality eh taylor pepper. Nice cinnamon warm feel that you expect out if a nice bourbon.
-
Nose - Off the bat you get red hots. Cinnamon, vanilla, a touch of barrel spice. Caramel pastries, yeast. Typical bakery smells. Palate - Flavor explosion. Lots of heat lots of flavor. Starting with a big ole bite of bread that fades quickly into the Nose. Red hots, lots and lots of cinnamon and barrel char, with vanilla lingering underneath. Hot cakes with the syrup. This is nice. Finish - Finish is cinnamon with more vanilla/caramel.

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 11, 2023 (edited November 18, 2023)Nose - Very grapey. Lots of leather, musk, dark berries, and oak. Perfect scent but thats all it is. Some deep, dark caramel as well. Quite rich. Palate - Lots of complexity. Oak, leather, kittle bit of pepper. Little sparks of vanilla and dark dried fruits. Very balanced Finish - This finish is strong, complex and long. Cinnamon, smoke and oak is the game and EHT is to blame…..in a good way. Not harsh, perfectly balanced. -

Reviewed November 11, 2023 (edited November 14, 2023)Nose - Cherry Vanilla bomb! That 107 is consistent with Weller 107, but so much better. So clean, incredible smell man. Lots of oak cherry too, that infused typical bourbon scent but its insanely pleasant. Palate - Sooooooo buttery, lots of cherry and baking spice. Whats nice is that the baking spice id complimented by a vanilla pastry note. Second sip, picking up tons of bright berries, leather, and oak. Almost like velvet. Finish - Finish is tons of vanilla, cherry and baming spice. Leaves a nice feel and taste in the mouth. -
Wild Turkey Master's Keep Unforgotten
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 6, 2023 (edited November 9, 2023)NOSE - Lots of caramel. There are really bright notes coming out, like pear or apple. Maybe a little bright herb like a mild mint. A dulce de leche pastry. PALATE - Lot of oak and leather. Slight vanilla sweetness, more like a candy. There is something candied in here that I cant figure, maybe a candied apple followed from the nose? This is extremely complex, lots of notes going on. FINISH - Finishes with barrel spice, oak and cinnamon. Very moderate and comfortable for a Bourbon. The finish is not what carries this bourbon, but by no means does that make it any less good.
