Neat. In the glass, it is clear and golden with long legs. Aroma is unique and more interesting that I expected. Sweet creamed corn, nutty toasted corn/tortilla/masa, sour mash, some minerals, honey, and butter. Rich mouthfeel. Taste is very smooth and sweet with lighter sugars, such as corn syrup (not a shock), cane sugar, to light honey. The other notable flavor is masa flour, tangy stone fruit ..maybe plum. Finishes sweet and a little tart, fading a bit into a long lasting, but delicate nutty masa. I don't believe that neat is the way to go, but better used over ice or as an interesting sub/addition for some cocktails for a sweet, earthy note Worth keeping for more than the bottle..which is a conversation starter on its own34.5 USD per Bottle

Neat. Nose is rich molasses, dried fruit, wood, touch of phenols baking spices, and vanilla. Taste is true to nose. Starts with molasses/dark brown sugar sweetness. Dark, dried fruitiness, then some nice wood notes of oak, vanilla, slight dessert spices, a little tobacco, nuttiness, and hogo for interest.. It becomes more sweet, but more toward saccharine, which lasts through the dry finish along with some wood tannins, and a touch of pepper and hot cinnamon. Complex, but balanced and nothing offensive. Sweet, but finishes dry. Give it plenty of air time as it gets more complex as it sits in the glass. Great sipper that I'll keep around.26.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Very pale straw color, long legs. Aroma is excellent. Fruity, roasted agave with light butterscotch and vanilla sweetness. Balanced nicely with musty oak, char, minerals, some herbs and black pepper. Taste starts with the agave sweetness, with an immediate punch of cinnamon candy, with some fruit, vanilla, oak, black pepper, butterscotch, black pepper, mint, citrus, and a hint of floral. Finish is sweet with some oak and slight red hot candies47.0 USD per Bottle

Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 12, 2021 (edited October 8, 2021)Neat. Dark copper color. Nose is lots of oak, dark caramel/molasses, stone fruit, cherry, vanilla, tobacco, leather, cocoa, nuts, must, green herbs. Taste is intense, sweet, oak tannins, cocoa, vanilla, char, stone fruit, cherry, green herbs. Finish is long sweet, oaky, vanilla, cinnamon, char, mint I'm a fan of Four Roses and this is another winner. This is the boldest of the standard release bourbons. It has the traditional pretty notes, but intensified with the higher proof and some extra age. Fans of the distillery would not be disappointed64.0 USD per Bottle -

LALO Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 28, 2021 (edited September 16, 2022)Neat. Nose is light, clean with agave, light citrus, grass, minerals, and spices. Taste is agave, citrus, pepper, fruit, hints of green (mint, grass), vanilla, cinnamon, and cream. Nice semi sweet and dry finish Very well crafted, honest, easy to drink tequila for sipping. Too pricey and delicate for mixing. Will keep on my shelf50.0 USD per Bottle -
Neat. Nose is sugar cane sweet, vegetal, banana pudding, earthy, slightly herbal, floral, and a little funk. Taste is true to the nose. Nice balanced sweet and moderately dry with that hint of banana pudding. Would make a great mixer and a rum replacement for some tropical drinks26.0 USD per Bottle

Neat. Agricole dominant nose. Fresh, sweet, herbal, grassy, sharp apple and citrus, but only a slight funkiness. Taste is sweet, more of a rich sweetness associated from molasses rums (which this contains), but also some of the agricole herbal and funk notes, especially towards the end and into the finish. Overall an easy to drink and delicious blend of pacific molasses rum with agricoles from Hawaii and Martinique. Enjoyable sipper, but the complexity is somewhat delicate that could get lost in mixed drinks with bold ingredients. Simpler is better with this37.0 USD per Bottle

Clément Première Canne Rhum Blanc Agricole
Rhum Agricole Blanc — Martinique
Reviewed May 8, 2021 (edited August 31, 2021)Neat. Aroma is sweet, apple, citrus, floral, vegetal, a little funk, earthy softness. Taste is sugar cane sweetness, green grass and herbs, floral, a little black pepper and apple cider. Finish is sweet, but dry with some herbs and that interesting funk Overall pretty smooth, very interesting flavor profile that's totally unlike other rums. I can see how this could be a love it or hate it style for a sipper. It's more comparable to some of the more herbal tequilas than a more common style of rum. I see why this is popular with tiki drink as it adds a lot of complexity.38.0 USD per Bottle -
Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo Tequila
Tequila Extra Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed May 7, 2021 (edited February 29, 2024)Neat. Clear amber with very long slow moving legs. On the nose, agave is a background player. Sweet notes of heavy dried fruits, prunes, cherries, some ripe banana, milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla. Balanced with lots of oak, some leather leather, and a hint of peat smoke Flavor starts sweet with agave, dried fruit, slight vanilla. Nicely countered with oak, black pepper, cinnamon, leather, a little mint. Nice long finish with sweet oak tannins and spice. Mouthfeel is rich but finishes dry Overall, on the sweeter side of balanced. Delicious and very complex. Lots of flavors to explore as it opens up in the glass and through the bottle. Pricey, but the juice is special and excellent. Great for a special occasion sipper230.0 USD per Bottle
