Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 14, 2024 (edited January 15, 2024)nose - big grape, classic bourbon notes of oak, vanilla, carmels, subtle spice palette - that grape follows through up front, slight sweet corn, vanilla, caramels… finish - a little quicker than i’d like with the sweetness up front, leaving mostly that oakiness, a hint of candied sweet grape, and some peppery spice overall, a very pleasant experience, the usual, enjoyable bourbon sipper you want, with a bit of that grape sweetness thrown in. solid if not overhyped, but understandably so with the history behind it40.0 USD per Bottle -
Peerless Double Oak Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 7, 2024 (edited January 8, 2024)nose - marshmellow, sweet candied pecan, grape, musty wood palette - strong wood, with the sweetness of pecan throughout the viscousness finish - not a strong detectable note, with the woodedness being the main experience throughout a deep, pleasing double oaked experience, and one of the more thick, viscous drams. the pleasant sweetness of the nosing doesnt quite follow through as strongly however. all around a solid pour, albeit one that leaves a little bit to be desired. -
nose - apple, apple, apple! getting both a green apple and honeycrisp strong off the top, and a good amount of sugary sweetness. light and oaky palette - a little young initially, with a nice sugary sweetness, and a hint of the strong apple from the nosing overall - while a slight youthiness comes across in the tasting, between the strong apple on the nose and the very sweet follow through, i very much enjoyed this offering from iowa

nose - sweetness takes the strong presence, with a a hint of baking spice. a clear younger barley follows up, and bright fruity ends the sniff palette - the bright fruit leads; apple, pear, peach. it lightly follows to a slight vanilla and cereal finish and a young barley rounds it out one if my favorite, go-to’s at the end of any given night, as its approachable and doesnt require much to appreciate the simple sweetness and cereal tasting

Tullamore D.E.W. Trilogy 15 Year
Blended — Ireland
Reviewed September 17, 2023 (edited January 7, 2024)nose - an almond milkiness leads, following with raisin and vanilla and a hint of cinamon and fruit. one of the most pleasant nosing experiences palette - almost imperceptibly starts with the nutty almond start, very oily and vanilla follows. the vanilla lasts on the silky-smooth finish overall, right up there with the redbreast 15… lacks a little bit of a depth and conplexity, but that’s not a bad thing with how pleasant it all happens -
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 15, 2023 (edited January 14, 2024)nose - campfire straight away, tobacco, leather, and ever so subtle sweetness of caramel or light pear palette - more malted barley hits first, follows with the smokiness from the nose, and the nice pear follows as it finishes into leather and tobacco a very balanced sip, that dances across the palette following the nosing experience. the campfire plays throughout for a classic peated pour. extremely enjoyable -
Westland American Oak American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington , USA
Reviewed September 8, 2023nose - the barley comes through immediately, a nice cinnamon, buttery, and a sugar-cookie ending palette - big, smooth barley on the front, that slight sweet sugar-cookie follows mid-taste, a little cinnamon and hints of stone fruit and even strawberry surprised by how much im enjoying this one, as american single malta are gaining ground in the whiskey scene ever so slightly. this is easily a daily-sipper with its approachable taste -
nose - big, bright citrus and pine forest aroma forward. follows with herbal and slightly medicinal with a soft buttery oak underneath palette - initial spice, and a viscous mouthfeel, follows with that big, bright minty/citrus/pine on the mid-palette. finishes a bit abruplty, with a slight oak. overall - the nosing follows through on the palette, and the robust pine and citrus experience is really nice. wasnt expecting the viscousity this has, and the only knock i have is on the finish, as it doesn’t leave you with much as it washes down. great rye pour nonetheless!

nose - a wonderfully sweet honey and green apple note and pear. palette - oily smoothness, with the honey and apple midway through. leaves a bit of saltiness on the finish not overly complex, but so very enjoyable and sippable. the brightness of the apple and pear pairs well with the honey sweetness. i dont get the smokiness ive heard someotgers have gotten90.0 USD per Bottle

Jefferson's Reserve Pritchard Hill Cabernet Cask Finish
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 29, 2023nose - sharpie strong on the front, mixed with a wine undertone, slight tea comes through palette - smashes wine and aged wood, followed by a earl grey tea, and then taffy ending - a banana/caramel influence. not a fan. the wine foreward is so string that it takes a min for my taste buds to catch up to it. theres no bourbon influence left in the mix.
