Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 31, 2023 (edited April 12, 2023)Thoughts on the first crack at this bottle. Ooh, thats nice. Notes of vanilla, baking spices, some Wild Turkey funk, brown sugar, dusty books, hint of cherry and sarsaparilla on the nose. I could nose this a long time. Rich and oily on the palate with vanilla and oak notes, some spicy heat and bitterness build, but not overwhelming. Finish lasts a long time, starts with my entire tongue tingling and fades to a really pleasant smolder. This is a very bourbon-like rye.49.99 USD per BottleCostco Wholesale -

GlenDronach Revival 15 Year (2018 Re-Release)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 11, 2023 (edited March 17, 2023)Nearing the end of this bottle, maybe one pour left. It’s very interesting to me to review a whiskey near the end of a bottle. I don’t usually finish a bottle very quickly. This one took almost 2 and a half years. I often find that my opinions have changed over time. Is it because my palate has matured? Is it because oxidation has opened up the whiskey? Is it because oxidation has been unkind to the whiskey? I don’t know. I do know that I am really enjoying these last few pours of this bottle, much more so than when it was freshly opened. Toffee, sherry and baking spice notes entice me on the nose and creamy palate, finish is lengthy with same notes. Pretty straight forward, but well done. Bravo! -
Prunier XO Très Vieille Grande Champagne Cognac
Cognac — France
Reviewed March 3, 2023 (edited February 25, 2024)These notes are from the Cognac Expert site. “Nose: Menthol, leather, candied fruits, walnuts, dark chocolate and a hint of licorice. Creamy tannins melt into rancio, dominated by vanilla and tobacco. Palate: Delightful elegance and floral finesse. Further notes of archetypal rancio, fresh hazelnuts, dark chocolate and toffee follow into an exceptionally long finish.” I wholeheartedly agree. Made with brandies aged 20-50 years. A fabulous Cognac! -

George Dickel TABASCO Brand Barrel Finish
Flavored Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2023 (edited February 8, 2024)The Dickel whiskey is good. The Tabasco flavoring is a little over bearing. It’s spicy and peppery. Not sure what to do with it. Maybe a Bloody Mary?
