Hatozaki Small Batch Japanese Whisky
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed April 14, 2022 (edited May 12, 2022)Very light and fruity. Grape, pear, floral nose. Taste matched, slightly sweet, refreshing and smooth. Strong floral and citrus notes, finish into some mild smoke. Could have passed as a wine, definitely hid the 92 proof well. -
Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed April 14, 2022 (edited January 16, 2023)My favorite Irish so far, up there with redbreast. Caramel, vanilla, toffee nose, very pleasant. Taste matched with vanilla and maybe cinnamon. Finish sweet and enjoyable. Solid all the way through. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 12, 2022 (edited December 29, 2022)Caramel on the nose. The taste moves quickly into orange and chocolate, maybe toffee/caramel. Medium spice and the finish has moderate burn with notes of caramel and orange. Solid and rather complex taste. -
Flaviar taster. Very floral and a little citrus on the nose reminiscent of a light scotch. Bit of spice on the taste but maintains a light floral taste and the finish has medium spice and burn. I enjoyed it but perhaps a little heavy on the spice. This lighter type of scotch is much better than the darker blend I’ve had.

Flaviar taster. First foray into rye so this may change over time. Nose of wood or what might be rye without knowing well, maybe citrus. Taste is smooth and warm, caramel, again, probably rye forward. Finish definitely moves more into rye with mild spice and burn. Some citrus notes in the background. Average overall, not sure where it sits on the rye scale but I would try more ryes.
