Saint Cloud 7 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 28, 2022 (edited December 15, 2022)Barrel name: Good Shi7. Bottle #11. Hot nose of brandy, figs, cinnamon, clove, caramel and grain. Sweet and fruity on the palate, with toasted caramel, berries, dark chocolate, brandy, butterscotch, vanilla, cinnamon, raisins and grain. Long hot and peppery finish. Quite a bit of heat on this one, but some water exposes deep richness and complexity. -
Lovely aroma of caramel, vanilla, black pepper, spicy sotol, grape, mint, lemon, brine, grass and a big dose of cedar. Woody and spicy on the palate, cedar, pepper, caramel apple, cinnamon and a hint of chocolate. A little spice at the finish. Utterly aromatic and complex. Delicious.Total Wine & More

Tasted from a mini bottle by the pool with @twostal. Fresh, green nose of sotol(obviously), green herbs, lime peel, a hint of vanilla and radicchio. Earthy and herbal on the palate with grassy and light vanilla flavor. Light peppery finish.Total Wine & More

Rich, brandy-like nose of grape, toffee, sherry cask, vanilla, chocolate, figs, herbal mint and charcoal. Sweet and slightly peppery on the palate, with flavors of chocolate, sherry, oak, caramel, stone fruit, orange flesh and toffee. Quite smooth for the proof. Solid, interesting stuff. This has to be the most sherry-forward whisky of any kind that I’ve experienced. On the palate it’s a single malt heavily influenced by the wine. On the nose I’d almost guess it’s a single malt/cognac blend.
