Mama Juana (or Mamajuana) is a spiced alcoholic beverage made by infusing a mixture of rum, red wine, honey, herbs and spices. The taste is similar to port wine and the color is a red or orange. It originates in the Dominican Republic and the herbs that make it up were prepared as tea by the Taíno natives. With the Spanish, alcohol was added. The term Mama Juana has the same French origins as the expression Dame Jeanne (Lady Jane), a term used to describe a bottle type. Dame Jeanne was transformed into "damajuana" and in the Dominican Republic, into Mama Juana. Source: Wikipedia5.0 USD per BottleABS MG
