CACHAÇA PIVÔ OURO CARVALHO AMERICANO
Cachaça — Pirapetinga, Minas Gerais , Brazil
Reviewed November 18, 2024Between the valleys across the Pirapetinga river, in the Zona da Mata region, Pivô is born - an authentic cachaça from Minas Gerais. From the sugarcane harvested in their own farm, fermented with native yeast, comes a smooth and aromatic liquor, thanks to its double distillation in the tradicional copper still. "My first contact with this project was to develop the central illustration for the label, which evokes its mineira roots and depicts the double distillation process, that gives Pivô its unique flavor", informed illustrator Anna Mancini on her website. "Shortly after, I designed the actual label for their 980ml and 355ml bottles. Two versions are produced: Branca, rested in steel barrels, and Carvalho, aged in american oak casks. From these applications, I took charge of their visual identity, in an unconventional but efficient path, thanks to the previous phases' research process and client conversations", continues. "Next I got in charge of the application pieces for launching Pivô in the market, aimed at presenting the product to resellers and the consumer, as well as presenting the brand concept. Here, the mineiro lifestyle - the "uai of life"* - is further explored through illustrations and various applications: coasters, a drinks menu, brandbook, posters and a website, among others. In this phase, I had the collaboration of the designer Boro Lacerda. *wordplay on "way of life" and "uai", a regional slang typical of Minas Gerais. ACURUY AGUARDENTE COMPOSTA COM MURICI
Aguardiente — Acuruí, Itabirito, Minas Gerais , Brazil
Reviewed November 18, 2024Murici is the “golden fruit” is the murici, internationally known as Nance. It flourishes in the tropical region of South America, from Brazil to Mexico, and has an acidic and salty flavor - according to Embrapa (government entity that studies Brazilian plants) - the taste is comparable to that of sweet cheese. This brandy produced in the district of Acuruí in the municipality of Itabirito, state of Minas Gerais, is called "Composta" because it is aged in wooden barrels and receives a load of Murici fruit during its aging. The result of the combination of sugar cane spirit with Murici fruit is a pleasant, fruity distillate, with attractive sweetness and woody notes. Unfortunately, there is not much information about the drink on the internet, but it is registered.10.0 USD per BottleAcurui -
The history of Famosinha de Minas and Santuário de Minas dates back to 1998, when production began at Agro Pastoril Paraopeba Limitada, in Paraopeba/MG. The master blender, Armando Del Bianco, was responsible for manufacturing these Cachaças, which soon stood out for their quality. The owner of both brands, Thales Paiva, took production to different locations in Minas Gerais. After a period in Januária, production moved to Campo Gerais, in Cachaça Serra da Boa Esperança, and later to Papagaios, where cachaças began to be produced. Famosinha de Minas got a special touch: the photo of Thales Paiva's mother on her wedding day. This tribute made the cachaça even more emblematic for the family. Recently, at the beginning of 2023, the production of cachaças Famosinha de Minas and Santuário de Minas began to be carried out at the Siriema distillery, located in Jequitibá/MG, which also belongs to Ouro I. With this new proposal, all of the brand's products were by analyzes in the laboratory of the Federal University of Lavras, where they were recognized for their extremely high quality. Cachaça Famosinha De Minas is aged for one year in amburana barrels and has an alcohol content of 42%. It arose from Thales Paiva's idea to create a brand that would be famous in Minas. Thus, the producer of Famosinha decided that he would like to honor his mother, the most important person in his life. From there, he created the cachaça label with a photo of his mother on her wedding day. Yellow, aromatic, fruity, sugarcane sweetness, woody. Source Cachaçaria Nacional.10.0 USD per BottleAcurui

Reviewed November 13, 2024Cachaça Magos de Minas is produced in Itaverava, Minas Gerais, but is moving to the city of Betim, Minas Gerais. According to the producer, the change in location is the result of the search for increased quality in production and its flow via trade and export, as Betim is a dry port. The cachaça has a characteristic limpid tone, crystal clear, bright. Prepared as a pure sugarcane, spent at least 2 years stored in each stainless steel tanks. Versatile, it can be enjoyed fresh in single dose shots (50ml) or on the rocks with 1/3 of the glass and a maximum of 2 ice cubes.
