Good nose and initial palate with light dark fruit notes and slightly buttery. The finish trails off with a dryer and slightly bitter almond type flavors. Definitely a dram of two halves. The base whiskey tastes young. Not too heavy handed with the port which in this case didn’t do it much favors.99.0 USD per Bottle

Four Roses 135th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (2023)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2023 (edited November 10, 2023)I’m not a huge fan of Four Roses. To me, this year LE doesn’t seem much different than the 2020 release. I feel like the nose is better than the palate like all Four Roses I’ve tried. The crème brûlée sweetness on the nose doesn’t translate to the palate which is ashame. It’s sweet but not like vanilla sweet. There’s a hint of mintiness in the finish. All in all, not bad but not really my favorite. But if you’re a Roses fan, you’ll probably enjoy very much. Addendum: Re-tasted past the shoulder and it has opened up well. It’s developed a fuller and richer flavor while maintaining its sweetness. The spice is still there with a nice long finish. Definitely better!200.0 USD per BottleAle Wine & Spirits of Powell -
Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips & Whiskey
Wheat Whiskey — Michigan, USA
Reviewed September 29, 2023Woodsy, sweet, vanilla aroma that translates to the initial palate. A bit hot on front of the palate as well. Good mouth feel but the flavors dissipate rather quickly and you're left with a slightly tannic and thin finish. How did this get whiskey of the year on the Ascot awards? As with other whiskies, the flavours last longer when paired with food. -
Wild Turkey 8 Year 101 Proof (Old Label)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 27, 2023 (edited December 3, 2024)This was a surprise hit! Found this Japanese release at a hole in the wall Kentucky retailer. Just hits all the classic boubon notes with enough proof to keep it interesting. Just wish the finish was a bit longer but for a 8 year, 101 proof, it's pretty awesome! Better than Eagle Rare for sure.99.0 USD per Bottle -
Maker's Mark Cellar Aged (2023 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 21, 2023 (edited September 22, 2023)Very cherry and oak forward with vanilla sweetness and baking spice. Drinks a bit hot on the mid palate to finish. I think a little bit of time will make it even better.160.0 USD per BottleMaker's Mark Distillery -
Angel's Envy Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 1, 2021 (edited March 19, 2022)Rich, sweet nose. You definitely get the port influence here. The palate is intense with a long finish. Port makes an appearance in the finish. I never cared for the regular version but this is well worth the hunt!
