Warehouse No. TS Barrel No. 35-45 Poured neat. Damp moss, lumber, liquorice/anise, and cherry on the nose. Sweet oak, white pepper, and green tea on the palate. The smell and taste were a little more funky than I would have expected. It is a tasty pour, and makes me interested to see how it compares to different barrel numbers.

Poured neat. Rich but slightly metallic nose oozing with toffee, malty grains, and burnt out campfire. Oily mouth feel that leaves a first impression of a maple doughnut. Peppered leather jumps in mid-palate and fades into a malty tobacco and caramel finish. Originally bought as a 375ml and now wishing I would have sprung for the regular sized bottle. I don't mind standard Jameson, but this is a much more enjoyable pour.

Poured neat. Initially the nose was a little underwhelming. This glass was ethanol forward with faint touch of sweet grains, vanilla and a pinch of ground cinnamon. A light scent of toasted marshmallow jumped out after the first sip. Flavorwise, vanilla, cinnamon and charred wood dominate the palate along with a boozey note normally found in younger whiskeys. There's an oiled leather characteristic that coats the mouth well and fades to a pleasant tobacco and woodsy finish. Overall it drinks a little hot for 93.7 proof and the flavors are very spikey and disjointed. I preferred this particular bottle over ice which rounded out the rough edges a bit, and it was even better as a base for an Old Fashioned.28.99 USD per Bottle

Barrel No: 9737 | Barrelled 11/17/2010 Poured neat. Looks like someone liquidized the amber from Jurassic Park into my glass. Caramel, orange peel, bailed hay on the nose with a pop of bubble gum. Palate leads with warm caramel drizzled over pine needles. A nice Tabasco heat rolls on quickly, bringing notes of oak, shortbread cookies and toasted brown sugar. Each sip gives you the Kentucky hug you would expect from a 100 proof bourbon. Tobacco and spiced oak make for a pleasant finish. Very difficult to find in my area but I won't hesitate to pick up another bottle if/when I see it again.49.99 USD per Bottle

Poured neat. On the nose I get a subtle mix of toffee, dusty wood, and a faint bit of toasted peanut. It reminds me of the cardboard box of peanut brittle my family gets every Christmas. It's not overwhelming, but this is the first time I can say that I've gotten a "briney" smell. It's like someone emptied and quickly rinsed a pickle jar. Oily texture with a lot of caramel and honey sweetness all the way through. A wave of liquid mesquite bbq smoke sweeps in around mid-palate before fading into a peppery finish. Very enjoyable, I'll be breaking this out for some backyard grilling parties this summer.

Poured neat. Nose is a pleasantly complex mixture of artificial grape with a caramel covered red apple. I also get a slight whiff liquorice/pink bubble gum and soft floral notes as well. A sweet and warming taste makes me picture wheat toast topped with honey and a slightly fire-burnt marshmallow. The pink bubble gum comes back on a moderately long finish, along with leather and oak.32.99 USD per Bottle

Clearer than the water that comes out of my faucet. Nose is like a shot of tequila with a lime sidecar. Taste is more tequila as well but with a smokey infusion. If you buy this expecting it to be a diamond in the rough whiskey you're going to be disappointed. Approach this as a shooter not a sipper. Goes down easy and leaves you with the warm and fuzzies. Makes for a good time more so than a good whiskey, but I don't regret the purchase.

Axe and the Oak Colorado Mountain Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Colorado , USA
Reviewed February 21, 2021 (edited May 17, 2024)Poured neat. Mesquite bbq chips, brown sugar and a hint of orange peel the nose. A small bit of a clove in there as well. Coats the mouth fairly well although a little thin. All the sweetness carries over from before although the brown sugar note has become caramelized. Chipped almonds and a heafty pinch of baking spice rounds things out nicely. Each sip leaves a little tingle on the tongue but the finish is fairly short overall. Leather and sweet oak flavors lingering longest. -
Poured neat. Nose is surprisingly light for 100 proof and reminds me of Rice Krispies cereal, fresh cut hay and brown sugar. More sweetness finds its way to your nose after the first sip. Almost watery up the front but the flavors ramp up as it passes across the tongue. More grain forward cereal notes on the palate, moderately sweet and fruity. Makes me think of boozy Apple Jacks. Creamy finish with a cinnamon gum kick. Good value for the price. Middle of the road bourbon that will probably find its way to a future tailgater or two.18.99 USD per Bottle

Poured neat. Initial nosing is light and airy with hints of orange, and sugar sweetness. Grains and cinnamon notes jump out after the first sip, like a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch before you pour in the milk. Cinnamon kick upfront, honey sweetness follows. Palate rounds out with all-spice and white pepper. Short oaky finish, reasonably tasty, and low on heat. Great for a social sipper.
