I usually prefer this over Knob Creek Rye and its watered down version, Basil Hayden's.

Small batch is always an even mix of Floral ("O") and Full Bodied, Light Spice/Caramel (K") yeast strains and high-rye (35%, "B") and low-rye (20%, "E") mashbills (both with 5% barley) versions of Single Barrel, as detailed at http://bourbonr.com/blog/four-roses-mash-bill-breakdown/ I may prefer this over the Single Barrel - at least for the low-rye (E), herbal (F) OESF recipe I had tried.

Begins with tropical fruit, but with an overly smoky finish, like scotch, though not as much as the 1792 Port Finish. Same high rye mashbill as Blanton's at 75% corn, 15% rye, 10% barley.

Overpowering Banana Smoothie on palate and finish. I ended up preferring non-Barrel Proof Jack Daniel's Single Barrel and Gentleman Jack over this due to that. However, this used to be the only Jack Daniels I kinda liked, until I couldn't stand that single overpowering note any longer. Friends seem to like, however. Sweet and deceptively mild for barrel strength, thanks to the Tennessee charcoal filtering. Interesting to set on fire and see the roasted banana flavor come forward even stronger, but as something kinda unique. For those who love Jack Daniel's, they must try this as it's a whole other experience completely different from Jack Daniel's Single Barrel.
