Really nice banana bread on the nose with some hints of spice in back to kick it up a notch. A little water really opens up some of the prettier notes to enhance that banana flavor. A lot of barrel spice on it with quite a bit of burn on the finish. Hard to pick out the notes easily, but I'm not sure if that's my inexperience or the whiskey. Just a very bright whiskey, but nothing very interesting happening here

Corsair Triple Smoke American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2020 (edited May 16, 2020)It's literally the best parts of every whiskey thrown together. You've got the sweet cherry notes of a bourbon. The spice of a rye. The peaty smoke of a Scotch. A little bit of vanilla cookie of the Irish. I can literally not rave enough about the whiskey. So much so that I decided to make it my first pour on my birthday! Great smoky cherry notes on the nose and an even greater fruity taste that lingers into a smoke-filled finish. God bless Corsair Distillery -
Dear Pirates, drop the rum. Get with Laphroaig. Just nosing the glass immediately takes me out to sea. It's a lot less smoky than I expected and honestly quite pleasant. I've been attempting to get my friend group into Islay scotch and I think Laphroaig is the place to start. Beautiful notes of iodine and peat on the nose, less meaty than an Ardbeg and less smoky than Lagavulin. Still leaves that awesome peat finish after you sip it though. It may not be as much of an experience as a Lagavulin, but damn if this isn't an amazing scotch.

Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 3, 2020 (edited January 23, 2020)Really nice spicy nose. I've let it sit for a while, which I don't usually do with a whiskey but I guess I'm testing my patience levels. I also found some beautiful floral notes and an almost buttered toast smell to it? A nice oak rounds it out and it brings forth a very nice, but not unique whiskey. A lot of rye spice on the taste with little hints of berry but that spice flavor is very overpowering today for some reason. The finish, however, is very nice with just a lingering vanilla. Some water really brings out those nicer berry/apple notes and makes it pop a lot more than before. -
I am not sure what magical energy I had during my last tasting to actually enjoy this. I don't like being harsh about whiskey usually, but man... this one's rough. A lot of strange vegetal notes on the nose with a hint of uncooked flour. It barely even smells like a whiskey to me, more like a tequila as another reviewer stated. Same flavors carry over into the tasting with a little bit of unpleasant spice on the finish. Diluting it down made it a bit more drinkable, but still very rough.

Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 31, 2019 (edited August 8, 2020)Found some really amazing complexity in this. Hints of banana, cherry and a really strong oak on the nose with bits of spice ringing through. It’s beautifully sweet with hints of leather and berries. I know I’ve tried more complex whiskey in the past but this is the first time I could appreciate it for what it was -
I wasn't the biggest fan of this on my previous tasting, but I really think it opened up this time. A lot more sweetness on the nose with a lot of green tea and apple, a really unique smell. The taste is really pretty on this one with just a hint of smoke on the backend. Definitely not an everyday whiskey for me but still a very unique whiskey that I quite enjoyed on this tasting.

Nelson's Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed December 29, 2019 (edited July 5, 2021)The true beauty of whiskey comes from the fact that it evolves and changes from taste to taste. It can give hints of caramel and oak on one tasting and cherry and orange the next... That still doesn't explain how the hell I smelled pure southern Cane Sweet Tea when nosing this damn stuff! I'm not sorry for it at all, but it was shocking! I got the sweet tea nose and then an almost cornbread taste that lingered into the taste of flour. It was like pure Tennessee in a glass and I can't explain it! I think I'm going crazy
