This is sourced from Green River, purchased on line from Seelbachs, premise being barrels that are low or "short" in fluid. Nose is light, with chocolate, leather, pepper, and cedar. Oily in the mouth, hot cayenne pepper hits first and lingers on the perimeter of the tongue, turning toward hot cinnamon candies toward the end. Cocoa is present in the background and comes forward as the spice starts to fade. Very warm chest.45.0 USD per Bottle

Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon (OESQ)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed December 25, 2022 (edited December 26, 2022)12/22, 10 yrs 9 mos, 116.8 proof-Beautiful spice nose, strong clove with a touch of cardamom and allspice. Alcohol fills the nostrils. Palate follows with a hot hit of cinnamon added. As the heat fades, this turns into a yeasty cinnamon sugar doughnut. Nice warmth in the chest lingers. The only drawback is the finish turns slightly dry and bitter. Mouth waters in response and finishes with French toast, however.80.0 USD per BottleHy-Vee -
This barrel was aged and picked from the top floor and it shows. The color is dark amber/brown. Visually way darker than 5 yrs. On the nose absolute bbq sauce, cherry wood smoke, and black dirt. The alcohol hits on the palate, followed by the bbq. This brings sweet vinegar reminiscent of Kansas City. Slightly peppery finish with charcoal, cherry, and smoked pork ribs drenched in sauce. Very thematic profile but very tasty. This barrel was picked from Green River Distillery. All the selections I've had from them, though young, have been good.

Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 17, 2022 (edited May 18, 2023)Gomers Store Pick 2022. Nose is burnt sugar, approaching dark rum. Palate is hot with hay, a touch of molasses, and bitter chocolate. Finish doesn't leave a big impression. -
Calumet Farm 16 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 17, 2022 (edited November 19, 2022)It's not often I say I'm pleasantly surprised by a $150 bottle of bourbon. These have been fairy good but unspectacular in the past. The nose is the star here. Salty and sweet caramel and floral at the same time. The palate brings the salty caramel and adds cocoa bitters. The finish is the week link. Heat lingers but not much flavor impression, slightly piney. I'm not saying this is a top notch whiskey but it is better than it's predicessors. -
Barrell Bourbon Batch 033
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 16, 2022 (edited January 31, 2023)Nose has candied apples and hits hard with hot Dentine cinnamon gum and a hint of brown sugar. Not overly viscous in the glass. The palate brings similar sensations with the heat and cinnamon overpowering everything else and causing a bitter finish. Ice mellows the cinnamon greatly, letting the fruit come forward as well as candy corn. Finish is much improved as well, although greatly shortened, eliminating the bitterness altogether while retaining a nice cinnamon taste. Not often I prefer slow sipping with ice, but this whiskey definitely benefited from a little taming.
