Reviewed November 19, 2022 (edited November 20, 2022)EYE Ruddy amber NOSE Dilly rye spice, baking spice, oak, cocoa, caramel, dried dark fruit, a touch of vanilla and citrus. Deep and heavy, it’s an aroma that drifts elegantly through the senses. PALATE Dilly rye spice, cocoa, oak, leather, pepper, caramel, dried dark fruit, baking spice, vanilla taffy and some honey. BAM, this hits like a rye spice truck fueled by oak. -
NOSE Woody, grainy, dried orchard fruit, herbal spice, pie crust, copper and a spirity kick Smells younger than it supposedly is and has a slight solvent-like sharpness to it. PALATE Watery rye spice, woody oak, caramel, dried fruit, grassy grain and some copper and sharp piney-herbal notes. Not a huge fan of this palate, it comes across raw and unrefined. FINISH Med-short -> Caramel, copper, stale spice and earthiness

Alberta Premium Canadian Rye Whisky
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed November 16, 2022 (edited November 21, 2022)NOSE Caramel, butterscotch, baking spice, copper, dried fruit and acetone. The Cask Strength version has a more intense, deeper, aroma, but this isn’t bad, or at least wouldn’t be if that industrial/acetone note wasn’t there. PALATE Caramel, watery butterscotch, copper, orange peel, touch anise and herbal spice with a hint of something industrial/solventy. Again, not bad, but that sharp note at the end keeps throwing me off a bit. FINISH Medium-Short -> Darkly sweet and spiced with a light touch of that acetone. -

Jack Daniel's Bonded Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed November 14, 2022NOSE Dulce de leche, vanilla, oak, baking spice, milk chocolate and a touch of sponge cake and Twizzlers. A surprisingly complex and interesting aroma that conjures an array of dark sweets. PALATE Oak, caramel cake, roasted corn, baking spice, vanilla, toast, touch of earthiness and dried cherries Tastes more like the usual Jack Daniel’s, but an elevated, more complex and interesting, version. FINISH Med-long -> Roasted corn, caramel, baking spice and a light candy sweetness. -
NOSE Oak, dried dark fruit, complex baking spice, cocoa, leather and some fresh banana bran muffins. Warm and deep, this is a shockingly good aroma for Jack. PALATE Oak, dried dark fruit, cinnamon, leather, chocolate Necco wafers, banana taffy. Palate does not live up to the depth and richness the aroma promised, but it still ain’t bad. FINISH Medium -> Oak, leather, cinnamon, clove and banana.

Reviewed November 2, 2022NOSE Sticky dark fruit, leather, pepper, hazelnuts, citrus peel, copper, vanilla cake, waxy and malty with a touch of cocoa and spice. Heavy, deep and dark, this is a bold and heavy delivery PALATE SHERRY! Copper, leather, sticky dark fruit, cocoa, black tea, vanilla cake, malt, baking spice and a bit of nuts and smoke. Lightly smoky but heavily sweet and rich, this is heavenly. FINISH Long -> Sherry, smoke, malt, and cocoa fade to citrus smoke and spice. -
NOSE Banana chips, Nilla Wafers, toasted nuts, strawberry shortcake, and some slight oak, earth and smokiness. Quite light on the smoke, not nearly as peaty/smoky as some of the other Longrows I’ve had. PALATE Strawberry cheesecake, earthy graham, cocoa, roasted nuts, smoke, creamy vanilla, dried orchard fruit, citrus and malty sweetness with a touch of citrus and baking spice. Earthy malty and dessert sweet, the palate is denser and more complex than the aroma. FINISH Long -> Smoke, strawberry cheesecake, baking spice and nuts fade to smoked Nilla Wafers.
