Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 29, 2024Well. I thought it was fantastic. Tasted like a blend of summer at the pool in a speedo and fireplace winters wearing your hoodie. Essentially peace and love, peace and love. -Tom -
Ben Holladay 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Missouri, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2023 (edited April 20, 2024)Roxanne: It’s like bourbon but more like that old lady with the super long nails, tons of jingly bracelets, leather skin, and smokers cough and voice when she calls you honey accidentally let her long cigarette ash fall in the barrel while she was filling it. Tom: This stuff is made about 40 minutes from Kansas City. That area should stick with BBQ.45.0 USD per BottleBrown Bag Liquor -
Paul Sutton Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 18, 2022 (edited September 27, 2022)Roxanne: I couldn’t quite put my finger on the scent of this, however I figured it out and it smells like a car wash. Another sniff reminds me of a car wash that’s operated by heavy chain-smokers. Upon my first serve, I didn’t feel there was anything on the pallet but there definitely was a burning in my nose. Second step, because you know you have to get used to it, and I’m pretty sure I have lung cancer and I’ve never smoked. It went up my nose and made me shake my head to try and dissipate the burn. Needless to say, this gem is going into the “guest” section of our liquor cabinet (a.k.a. bourbon we think tastes like ass). This section is ‘special’ as we will bring it out only on ‘special’ occasions, like when we have no bourbon for other people to drink - it’s a win win - we get host points because they feel ‘special’ and we keep the actually good stuff for us. #winning Tom: We’ve been watching this vampire show on Hulu. Its kind of dark all the time (they are vampires, after all) and they all live in this old house on Staten Island. There are old things throughout the house, bats and an occasional dead body. This whiskey tastes like I image their basement smells. Bat piss, dead body and old furniture…pretty much sums it up. -
Tom: Caught a hint of grilled cheese and tomato soup on the nose. Oh wait…that’s what I was having to eat. This was pretty good. If I had to choose between the grilled cheese and this bourbon, I’d choose the grilled cheese 7 out of 10 times. Roxanne: I’m going to do this all official like - nose, palate, finish. Nose - Reminds me of whiskey. Then like dry, crunchy towels left in the washing machine because you forgot to put them in the dryer were used to clean up this whiskey if it had been spilled. Palate - strong start but then disappears quickly. Like seriously - where did it go? Left an oily finish feeling - kind of like cheap Chinese food. The burn is legit, though…Tom finished his grilled cheese and tomato soup and I still feel it. Finish - no comment. Blah. No wonder Tom likes it.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B521
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 4, 2021 (edited June 27, 2021)Roxanne: first sniff, damn…this is going to be strong. first sip, neat. Oh my god it burns. I have tingles everywhere, even on my scalp and I can feel the fire trail as it goes down. This is good! Second sip, few drops of water. Holy shit this is good. It’s like drinking a ball of fire drizzled with caramel. Third sip, on an ice ball. Holy fuck. This is delicious! YUM! Tom: Strong. Like a gym teacher that still thinks he can wrestle for a state championship. But smooth like that kid in high school with the perfect mullet and the Trans Am. Get some if you can. Roxanne #2: I say yummy after every sip. Also, I want to mention when Tom took his first neat sip, he winced and grimaced. He likes it with the ice balls.
