Old Forester Single Barrel Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 4, 2022 (edited August 12, 2022)warehouse G floor 7 127.5 proof. Aroma - Bananas foster comes to mind immediately. Nice oak and vanilla. Massively sweet. As it opens up.. the bananas profile seems to fall into the background and I’m getting more cherry and spicey notes like pepper and cinnamon . Pretty damn awesome. Taste - I was really hoping for the taste to follow the nose… and it absolutely does. Massive bananas foster here again. Very thick, long creamy finish. Pepper, red hots, oak, caramel, citrus. Sticky mouthfeel… really freaking good.. -

Sagamore Spirit 8 Year Rye (2021 Release)
Rye — Maryland , USA
Reviewed April 27, 2022 (edited September 9, 2022)Aroma - Very uneventful. Nothing really standing out on this. Some rich caramel and rye, hint of cinnamon. Lot left to be desire here. Alcohol definitely present here as well. Taste -Chocolate, rye spice, slight touch of baking spices just enough to make their presence felt. Vanilla and deep caramel tones here. Getting slight hint of black tea. Balance is really nice here. Medium to long finish.. more on the long side. Really nice. This is super unique because I’m finding all the flavors to be popping at the very beginning but they all show up again during the finish. Not getting a whole lot mid palate other than the black tea note. Overall - it’s awesome.. The finish on this were this one shines. Worth the purchase and then some. 4.35 -
The Senator Barrel Proof Straight Rye (Fall 2018)
Rye — Indiana, USA
Reviewed April 26, 2022 (edited December 6, 2023)Bottled in Winter 2020 Proof 117.0 ABV 58.5% Aroma - for a 95/5 rye, I was expecting a bit more spice on the aroma. Instead, a nice balance of citrus, dark fruits (plums and blackberries) and rye and hay. As it oxidizes, slight cinnamon starts to come forward along with some nutmeg. The oak presence is outstanding and is the backbone here holding everything in perfect balance. Really well done here.. very inviting. Taste - black licorice comes to mind. Not entirely complex by any means, but this is really well done. The front of the palate is surprising. Tons ofthe usual suspects we see in bourbon.. vanilla, caramel and oak.. The mid palate I’m getting a flash of citrus. The rye doesn’t come until the finish… pepper, baking spices very very slight hint of cinnamon.. Surprisingly light..Medium to thin viscosity.. finish length is medium at best Overall - I enjoyed the aroma more than the taste. This is a very well done rye but I feel that it is slightly over priced. In my opinion, once I enter that $70+ zone, I want something that stands out and makes me remember what I experienced. This one lacks that complexity and uniqueness on the palate. It is very smooth and extremely well balanced… but I cant help to think that Willet 4 year, Rare Breed Rye, Smooth Ambler Founders, Pikesville Rye, Stellum Rye (just to name a few). are all better and less expensive than this. -

Castle & Key Small Batch Bourbon 2022 (Batch 1)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 11, 2022 (edited April 24, 2022)Aroma- big fruity notes stand out alongside brown sugar. Just layers of sweet fruits here. One of the more fruit forward bourbons I’ve experienced on the nose. Apples, cherries, peaches, and even a berry-like jam. As it opens, more and more cinnamon red-hots starts to come forward. Picking up almost no burn whatsoever. Very impressive aroma to be honest. Hopefully taste follows suit. Taste - First thing that comes to my mind is chocolate and Fruity Pebbles. Wasn’t expecting that. Definitely not as sweet or as complex here compared to the nose. Get the typical brown sugar, vanilla, the oak profile is extremely subtle. Slight touch of apples and honey coming through on the finish with a touch of spice. Overall - Extremely easy sipper here. It’s very smooth, has great balance. solid first batch. Worth a try. -
Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon (2021 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 10, 2022 (edited April 11, 2022)Aroma - honey, pepper, apple, cherries, cloves, spices of cinnamon and even dash of nutmeg. Really nice aroma. Taste - Man.. this is ridiculously smooth. Mouthfeel is quite thin. But taste solid.. really nice oak profile. Little touch of smoke on the finish with a hint of red hot/cinnamon.. Definitely getting an earthy/ nutty note mid palate. Overall - like most Michter offerings, this one does not justify the price point. Aroma is fantastic, taste solid, mouthfeel and finish is lacking. Drinks closer to $70-80 bottle in my honest opinion -
