Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 25, 2021 (edited November 7, 2021)Nose: oak and vanilla with a hint of ethanol Palate: oak, leather, vanilla, suprisingly marshmallow. Jim beam peanut works well with the oak. Present but not mouth drying Finish: short to medium, seems short for the proof. More peanuts -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C920
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 28, 2021 (edited April 19, 2021)Nose: full of ethanol but past that there is dark chocolate, vanilla and a definite oak presence Palate: Acidity and tart but in a good way. Small sip: Lemon up front, then reveals dark chocolate and a touch of oak like a hot toddy. Full sip reveals all the rich, chocolate flavors. Spice rounds it out to be a tiramisu Finish: medium to long with tannins from the oak. Oak is there but not overdone. Pretty balanced -
Nose: mainly vanilla, touch of caramel and the slightest hint of spice. Palate: soft and creamy. Chocolate orange (almost a rich acidity), touch of oak, touch of rye spice at the end. Finish: medium to long but not intense. Rye spice lingers. Pleasant but not overpowering Overall, one of the more balanced bourbons I’ve had. Hits all major flavor profiles without one sticking out. Biggest takeaway is the soft mouthfeel.
