Tastes

I really wanted to love this spirit, sherry and redbreast sounded great, and it is. Edited: Whisky is much better with water added. Alcohol is pronounced, and I can't get past it to love it.

The one I tried is 28 year. For 28 year 3 star. But for taste I give it a 4 star. You can taste the port finish. Hints of peat, salt air.

Smooth, light honey, reminds me of dalwhinnie. Hints of rum, alcohol bite follows in the finish. Good Irish whisky.

Heavily peated, thicker 'oily' consistency compared to ardbeg. A bit of an alcohol bite to it in the finish. a sweet/floral taste that competes very well with the peat. I can easily see why someone would give a 4 star, there is somehting missing from it to me on giving it a distinguishing stand taste. Well worth the try if you like ardbeg or laphroaig 10 year.

Very smooth, nice taste for a blend. Hint of floral / Carmel / honey. My problem is it doesn't have a distinguishing character. Great for casual drinks, but if your picking one dram for the night, move along.

I have had about quarter if a bottle over a week, and I am not a fan. I LOVE Talisker 10, Ardbeg, Laphroaig, lagavulin, and other peat monsters. The taste here is confusing to my tongue. I like Johnnie Walker Blue, which has a bracing taste. I find Green Label clashing in taste. I may add actual notes, or give the bottle away. Worth a try, but not for me.

I was going to keep it just for others to taste, reminds me of paint thinner. I didn't give one star because it was NOT harsh alcohol, was drinkable, just not for me.

I love talisker 10. This version is way too salty, and peaty is subdued by the salt.
