Bladnoch 10 Year

A fresh, Single Malt Whisky by Bladnoch Distillery currently owned by Australian entrepreneur David Prior in Lowlands, Scotland made from locally grown, malted barley using local water; aged for a minimum of 10 Years in ex-Bourbon casks. It has a fresh birth with notes of toasted spicy oak, fennel, vanilla, new hay, citrus zest & orange blossoms; while a clean & fruity life adds notes of lemon, orange, honey, ginger, clove, pepper, vanilla creams, chocolate chip cookie & berry compote; that led to a quick & refreshing death with notes of wild flowers, citrus, Ginger snaps, cinnamon rolls & fruitcake. May 2020 / August 2022

Spicy and fiery, which I like, but doesnt deviate much from your typical vanilla and oak flavors. Well done, but doesnt stand out.

Nose: vanilla, cake, creaming soda Palate, soft, vanilla, Finish: medium

Nose - creamy vanilla, hay, biscuit, a little bit of green apple some ginger and some light citrus. (after pouring maybe 20 minutes after first taste I swear I could smell milk chocolate) Taste - creamy vanilla, bisquit, ginger. There is some tiny hint of sour(in a nice way). Finish - medium length finish that for me is mainly creamy and bisquity and sometimes it tastes like creme Brule. I don't believe this to be a very complex whisky but it's does what it does very well. It makes me smile while I drink it.

Decent but not memorable. Not dissatisfied that I picked up a bottle but likely won’t replace it with another when I’m done.

A- Amber -2, low viscosity N- light but pleasant, sweet (honey, vanilla, toffee) fruity (bananas, sultanas, orange peels) floral (fresh grass), wet oak P- nice fruity spicy arrival, rich, full , sweet (honey, Caramel, Vanilla), fruity (pineapple, tangerine, orange peels, sultanas), floral ( fresh watered grass), cereal, wet oak F- medium finish, floral-sweet-fruity after taste (yummy!!) C- fresh balanced dram (I would good for spring and summer) good value for money, if you find it give it a try is worth it

Nose: Initially floral, nutty and sweet (brown sugar, dates) with a very distinct oak character. Letting the whisky breathe a bit in the glass reveals more of the sweet character, with caramel and fruity (white grape, apple) notes coming through. Water adds more of the sweet notes (floral, brown sugar, caramel, grape) character while maintaining the strong oak note. It almost feels like you're sticking your nose straight into the barrel. Taste: Earthy. Malted barley, hay, grass and oak are dominant followed by a soft spice. On the back end, the floral and sweet notes come through (particularly caramel, green apple). Water brings more oak, caramel, and apple notes coming through. Finish: A hit of spice which rolls off gently into malt and oak character. The oak lingers for a long while. Minor alcohol burn. Excellent expression of a single malt for a great price (bumped up the score +0.25). The young age is not apparent with strong oak notes coming through on the nose and palate. Nose is fantastic and the taste makes for an easy to enjoy drink.

Nose: ⠀ ⠀ Wet hay, Lemon peel, Citrus, Fresh, Clean malt, Slight ethenol bite, Green tea⠀ ⠀ *** with three Teaspoons of water Added***⠀ ⠀ Palate: ⠀ Sweet soft vanilla, malt Sugars, very fresh lemon peel citrus and grassy elements, it is edgy but clean with only a slight spike note. I will say, I feel this is very malt forward and distillate focused. The cask feels present but not overpowering. Slightly sour but not unwelcome to balance off the initial sweetness. ⠀ ⠀ Finish: ⠀ Light oak tannin but very good all spice and nutmeg come up. Lemon peel comes back as well. A lingering sweet oak and sugars arrive. I get almost a quick Burst of cotton candy.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Conclusion:⠀ A very enjoyable dram. It has no tricks and it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It is honest and malt forward using the casks I feel as a welcome companion to enhance not overbear. I will say it does improve with some time open. I highly suggest this to anyone who may come across it. Cheers🥃

Nose: ethanol. Intense. Sweetness (caramel), oak, dirt. With water some floral notes. Palate: pungent spices, sweetness. There is an rvolution, starting friendly, light, then nuts and intense sweetness to pungent spicyness. Finish: sweet, pungent, little bit oaky and dry, tart. Medium long first, later on longer, lasted for a minute or two.
